Linda Haines R.I.P.
Calling all Burnley fans to join us with a minutes applause in memory of Linda Haines who passed away suddenly on Saturday 2nd March.
Linda was an avid Burnley fan who travelled the length and breadth of the country with the Boundary Clarets. Her love of the Clarets made 3 European trips essential in 2018 when Burnley made the Europa League.
Linda will be solely missed by her family, friends and regulars of both Boundary and Accrington Clarets.
We ask that you show your respect to Linda in the 70th minute of the next home game against Brentford.
Thanks.

No knowledge of the lady but as a fellow claret and one who supported my team far better than me may she rest in peace. Commiserations to family friends and fellow clarets who knew her.
I trust she had a good innings and whilst it is never a good time to leave life’s train journey I hope she passed a load of stop off points before her final destination. RIP Linda

Re: Linda Haines R.I.P.
I knew Linda very well when I lived in Edenfield and travelled to away matches on Boundary Clarets for many years.
Linda was a lovely lady and Claret Tony informed me of this sad news this morning when I was in a Lincoln shop.
My thoughts go out to her family and friends at this sad time .

Me and my brother sat 2 rows behind Linda and Sam for many years. Met at many away games over the years too. She was the absolute definition of a true Claret. Absolute shock at hearing of her passing. Hope she gets the tribute she deserves. RIP Linda .

Ahh that’s very sad. I only really knew her through my mate Sam who sat with her. Been on the bus with her a few times too, and enjoyed her company on the few occasions I went with Boundary…RIP

Re: Linda Haines R.I.P.
Linda was a good friend of mine who I initially met through travelling with Boundary Clarets back in the early 2000s. She was a huge help too in her NHS capacity when a friend of mine was ill, something I never forgot. I hadn't seen her for a while but bumped into her recently. She said she'd stopped going to away games and was now prioritising holidays which I know she loved.
I received a message on Wednesday with this awful news and how sudden it was. Her son and daughter both live out of the country but her grandson Jordan returned to England some years ago, I think it was taking Jordan to games that led to her going with Boundary initially.
Bless you Linda. My thoughts are with her family, and in particular Jordan, and all her friends. RIP my friend.

She had been a season ticket holder and travelled with Boundary Clarets long before she took Jordan on to Turf Moor and subsequently away games.
Been a Claret all her life.

My memory I'm afraid, I've realised I remember her from Boundary for some years before Jordan started going.depechedingle wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:07 pmShe had been a season ticket holder and travelled with Boundary Clarets long before she took Jordan on to Turf Moor and subsequently away games.
Been a Claret all her life.
I've learned that her funeral will be next Friday afternoon - I am hoping to be there.

RIP to a fellow claret , it’s my brothers 25th anniversary today it doesn’t get any easier although many people told me it would , I would like to share what a member of my family passed on today , words which I have taken comfort from , hopefully it can help a few others

(Physics backs this up too which I know dad would have appreciated)
You want a physicist to speak at your funeral.
You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died.
You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy is created in the universe and none is destroyed.
You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every BTU of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world.
You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid the energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got.
And at one point, you’d hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your brokenhearted spouse there in the pew and tell him that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off you like children, their ways forever changed by you.
And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever.
And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all our energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell them that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue in the heat of our own lives.
And you’ll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know that they can measure, that scientists have measured precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time.
You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they’ll be comforted to know your energy is still around.
According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone.
You’re just less orderly.
Here’s to being less orderly .
