Avoid The Brick Pub!
The Wetherspoons nearby is ok but we did get threatened with being shot a couple of seasons ago when one of our group ‘pushed’ infront of some Everton fans at the bar!
Pubs in the centre are usually fine although Uber prices do go up quite sharply before and after the game.

We always go in the Taxi Club. Pay 50p on the way in and never any issues.

Kind of dependant on where you get to sit at Goodison, but I've got two differing opinions:
a) It's a great example of a traditional old football ground
b) Its a sh!thole

Travel to Goodison
It looks as though Northern Rail and Transpennine are on strike on April 6th so people planning to go by train may need to find alternate arrangements

Still selling train tickets, and in recent months a lot of these strikes have been cancelled last minute with the majority of people still feeling the pain but the rail staff still get paid.

We are currently looking at getting a lift to Preston, then Avanti train to Warrington Bank, then East Midlands train from Warrington Central to Liverpool Parkway

Re: General Info - Everton (a)
I'm looking at megabus as a back up. Not much difference time wise if you match up with the x43.
Manchester works out fine, I did look from Preston. Despite their advert saying a 40 minute journey. No dates were available when I looked.
So I don't think they operate that route anymore.

Just a warning for anyone using merseyrail for this game.
You will be fined and classed as having no ticket, if you haven't got a paper ticket printed before travel.
It catches plenty out.

There are 6 of us going so we have now settled on train Preston to Warrington £16 each return then a 6 seat uber Warrington to Liverpool which is working out at roughly £13 each returmQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 12:53 pmI'm looking at megabus as a back up. The other option is the mega bus at 3 quid each way.Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 10:57 pmExactly what we're doing now after the X43.

Has anyone been on the EMR service before? Is it a decent sized train.
I'm a bit worried about paying up front and not getting on it.

Good thinking about the bus
Re: General Info - Everton (a)
If you buy a Merseyrail day saver you can present your e ticket on your phone. I’ve bought mine for next Saturday @ £5.95.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 2:49 pmhttps://twitter.com/merseyrail/status/1 ... rA8yA&s=19

Re: General Info - Everton (a)
It’s all over the Merseyrail network. I live in Shrewsbury so it’s a fairly straightforward journey for me. Shrewsbury to Chester on the train TFW. Then Chester to Kirkdale on Merseyrail with one change at Moorfields.

Can you buy the Merseyrail day ticket on the day or is it something you have to buy in advance?

Re: General Info - Everton (a)
You can buy them on the day. All Merseyrail stations have ticket machines. I just downloaded app and bought a day ticket. It’s good value for me as I am boarding at Chester. Possibly cheaper to get a paper ticket return on the day if travelling from Liverpool Central.

Everton parking
Any suggestions please
Re: Everton parking
Probably 5 at the back - Patterson, Keane, Tarks ,Young and Mykolenko. Big long diagonal balls, the kind of stuff we used to endure.

Walton Hall Park Soccer Centre. L4 9XP.
10 minutes walk...think its a fiver. Easy to get away after. Parked there for the Carabao Cup game. No issues.

Re: Everton parking
Yeah Walton again from me, 5 mins walk to the taxi club for a few pints (don’t forget your 50p!) then another 10 mins walk to the ground.

Re: Everton parking
i parked at Alsop high school last time, think that was a tenner, about a 15min walk. planned to park there again, but might try the recommendation above
Re: Everton parking
Only time I’ve been in a car , we used the car park behind Anfield, wasn’t cheap and about 10 minutes walk to Goodison.

That includes my youngest being searched by the police after a sniffer dog sat down by him after we'd walked through a cloud of smoke. I've parked at orrell park train station and then gone in on the train with a train and bus ticket to take you directly to the ground. Busy on the way back but straightforward.
Re: Everton parking
If you get there early enough can park on the road near Walton Hall Park for free. Done it a few times and facing right way to get out. There is an upstairs at Taxi club as well with loads of seats. Only found out after 3rd visit!!

Re: Everton parking
Don't park next to the stadium.
I did for the cup game earlier this season, it was £20 and they cram you in so even if you wanted to leave early to beat traffic, your stuck on there for a good hour or so.
