Hard to use sportsmanship and Klopp in the same sentence - they are just so opposite

I thought it was quite funny what he said to that reporter. People need to lighten up a bit in this snowflake PC world.

Needed to distract the attention from his players barely getting out of second gear v Man U.
Mission accomplished. No one is talking about Salah being AWOL or Ceouwoueion Kelleher not having the best game, today.
You’d think folk would be wise to it since it’s been done since the days of Ferguson, Mourinho, etc.

Remember when Utd lost and Fergie would rage about how the world and his wife were against them. It’s called being a winner and hating being beaten. That, along with a brilliant knowledge of the game and fantastic man management skills is what makes them the best.

I didn’t blame him in the slightest. Reporters often ask the most stupid questions. I’m amazed more Managers don’t walk.
Nobody can deny he’s done an amazing job at Liverpool. I get the impression that a number of Burnley fans think he’s arrogant and can’t stand him but I do wonder if that’s because he had a little spat with Dyche a few seasons back, and even though we haven’t a clue what was said in that spat many fans suddenly took a dislike to him, bizarre. I’d love him as our Manager.

I just find his "fun zany German" act to be so false. The moment something doesn't go his way he shows his true colours. Fella's a disingenuous prick. People slag off Mourinho for being an arsehole, and maybe he is, but at least he's consistentbeddie wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:08 amI didn’t blame him in the slightest. Klopp, Ferguson, Arteta and Mourinho are all absolute luvvies when things are going their way but complete arseholes when things don't go the way that they want them to. Regarding the interviews it is part of their contractual obligations to speak to the press before and after a game. Klopp may be asked stupid questions after he has won a game or after he has lost a game. Depending on the result will either mean that we see the media darling or King Baby. I much prefer seeing Klopp as King Baby and I hope that we get to see a few more meltdowns before the end of the season.
# Pray for Klopp
Re: Klopp's sportsmanship
Think he's getting worse, probably indicates the pressure he's under and why he's decided to leave Liverpool in the summer.

I agree. He wasn't very cordial in that brief interview, but who cares. Also, he's going to get even more entertaining if it ends up looking like the League Cup is the only trophy he picks up this season.

Re: Klopp's sportsmanship
I remember when we beat them 2-0 and a kid did the "John terry handshake" trick to him whilst Liv were getting on their team coach.
His reaction to that cemented him as the end of a bell for me... Shouting in a 8/9 year old kids face about how he should respect him and he won't ever amount to anything in life with that behaviour.

He is a very talented football manager and I wouldn't complain if he were ever to manage BFC. Hes a bit like Barton or Barnes in the fact he's the panto villain when lined up against you but you would love to have him fighting your corner.bfccrazy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 9:27 pmI remember when we beat them 2-0 and a kid did the "John terry handshake" trick to him whilst Liv were getting on their team coach.

That being said he probably has the emotional intelligence of an 8 or 9 year old.

ANYONE BUT LIVERPOOL.
They constantly think they are the most disadvantaged team on the planet.
Everything possible that doesn't go their way, both on and off the pitch is always someone else's fault.
Just a club full of bleeding hearts.

Re: Klopp's sportsmanship
In VK we have a manager who manages to remain calm, fair and pragmatic in post match interviews. He does not get involved in all the mind games nonsense with other managers or with the officials.
Dyche and his team were a nightmare with the officials. He served his apprenticeship for these tactics under Malkay McKay at Watford.
Howe was the same - but he let his little obnoxious Rottweiler Tisdale do all the dirty work.
The likes of Klopp, Pep, Sir Alex, Mourinho and many more are a whole different level. When their teams are having a blip or lose a big game then very often you will see either incidents with the press, or other managers or in the case of some throwing one of their own players under the bus.
These managers are the most sought after in the world so they have a lot of power not only at their own clubs but also within the game. It might not happen as much now but SAF was dictating which referees could or could not officiate United games. He banned the BBC for several years. He basically did what he wanted and what he thought was needed to keep United at the top.
Yes Klopp is a bad loser. Yes he was out of order with that journalist.
But he has been brilliant for Liverpool and for the Premier League. Putting aside some of the prejudices around scousers that often rear their heads on this board anyone who likes football cannot deny that Liverpool have been great to watch these last few years - and if you knew anything about their transfer dealings 100% they have not “bought” the league or have had a bottomless pit of money like United, City, Chelsea etc.
It’s the same with SAF’s team - how can anyone who likes football not love that team he built and the way they played ?

Klopp has been the best club manager since arriving in Scouse land
His belief in his young players coming through is admirable.
He is probably the only person in Liverpool that has not had something nicked off him.

Re: Klopp's sportsmanship
Factually incorrect. Kompanys had a touchline ban for his behaviour towards officials and Bellamy has had a couple yellows too. Dyche never did, for all his questioning of decisions postmatch (usually warranted given our record with PL officials)Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:58 amIn VK we have a manager who manages to remain calm, fair and pragmatic in post match interviews. Re: Klopp's sportsmanship
What’s factually incorrect ?
I said he remained calm, fair and pragmatic in his post match interviews. In my opinion he does - but I’m not quoting this as a fact as it’s just an opinion.
The rules around touchline bans have been changed for this season btw - and pretty sure Dyche has had one too.
Dyche, Woan and Stone badger the officials (especially the fourth) as much as anyone. I was sat in the Bob Lord stand when we played Watford when McKay was manager and Dyche was one of his assistants and I’ve rarely seen any team do what his team did that day. The only ones I would say I’ve seen on a par were Phil Brown and Joe Jordan (when he was assistant to Harry at QPR and spent the whole game yelling abuse at the officials)

They changed the rules re touch line bans before this season - banned after three yellow cards, reduced from four. Dyche had one at Everton a week or two before Kompany’s.

It does seem like they have clamped down somewhere this season and there have been a lot more yellow cards dished out to managers.
