Don’t normally watch things like that (or manage to stick with it) but that was excellent. Looking forward to part two.

Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cook
I saw Andy outside the corporates before the Arsenal game and could not resist a quick rendition of his song and a shake of his hand. He had a beaming smile and I had a brief chat with him, what a lovely bloke he is.

Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Really enjoyed that. Can you put part two on when it becomes available. Thanks.
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Really good interview that and am looking forward to part 2. Nearly 30 years since Andy Cooke signed for us. Where does it go? A similar amount of time from the Orient game to Stan sacking those players as Sean Dyche being appointed manager to now. Mind bending.
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Just got to the "Gerry Creaney scored a goal here and there" bit.. wasn't it something like 8 in 10?

Enjoyed both parts.
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Nice bloke. Spoke to him in the Hard Rock in Manchester the other year. More than happy to chat about his time with us for a good twenty minutes.

Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Just listened to part one. Cooke is an interesting bloke. Articulate. The interviewer is really professional.
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Just checked, it was 8 in 10. I thought he was playing alongside Cooke too as we didn't have Payton then, but Cookey says Creaney was keeping him out of the team. Did we go with one up top under Waddle for a bit?helmclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:30 pmI remember Creaney as Andy did and would never said he scored 8 in 10!
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Some hilarious moments. Peyts scored goals I was just a f***ing pain in the arse for 90 mins
Stan gave a rollicking to me and Branchy at half time. Brancy said he was feeling unwell. Stan told Sam to get the whisky, made Branchy have part tumbler and he went out second half and played a blinder.
Roeder and Waddle year sounded hopeless too.
Top honest bloke Cookey

Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Maybe alongside Paul Barnes? He was in the side until we swapped him for Payton in January 98.
On that subject - I used to always think of Barnes as something of a goal hanger who offered very little/nothing else to the side but I recently watched the highlights of the 96/97 season under Heath and I feel I was grossly wrong in my assessment. Lots of fantastic play for him - a lot better than I recall.
Re: Turfcast interview with Andy Cooke
Of course, I forgot about Barnes! I don't remember much about him except that he was a 20-goal-a-season striker, but those 20 goals would come in about four gamesjedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 12:26 pmMaybe alongside Paul Barnes? Remember Creaney scoring at home to Carlisle (our first win of season) and away at Blackpool. A decent player.

Interesting that he was offered a deal to return to us

I think I vaguely remember him training with us.

Creaney partnered the free-scoring Paul Barnes.

Can’t believe Creaney was only 27 when he played for us. My memory had him in his mid 30s until I checked.

Not the first player to comment on how uninterested Waddle was.
We got really lucky that season.

The worst manager we've ever had?
