Free Kick Or No Free Kick
I know we should have defended it better, but that was never a free kick in my opinion and we go in at half time with our tails up.
Overall a great performance that I thought deserved 3 points.
Glass still half full.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
If you trip yourself up and get a free kick it's time to seriously question the honesty of officials and VAR

From Sky sports....
"We've just seen the replay of the "foul" that led to the Sarabia free-kick and boy it's so soft. Ait-Nouri loses his balance rather than is fouled but referee Thomas Bramall disagreed. Terrible call from the official".

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
It's just another example of where players are never penalised, retrospectively, for diving. In fact, they're regularly rewarded. The result is that refs give the softest cr@p as a foul.
I find it just as frustrating that a number of their players fell over having fouled; pretended to be injured; then let off a card.

Not sure if it's the incompetent refs or the Footballing God's that don't want us in the Premier league.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
We can't influence referring or VAR decisions, and its a fact more go against you when you are at the bottom. What you can influence however is poor defending, and taking your chances. It will be these two factors that relegate us, not referring decisions
Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
The whole of the stadium, apart from the pillock in the middle, could see it wasn’t a foul.

Poor decision and we've had a fair few of those against us, but
they're not the reason we are where we are.
Two home wins tells it's own tale.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
We needed to be playing like we have in the last 4 matches, at the start of the season. We may then have had a chance of averaging a point a game and fractionally over, and so staying up

Ait-Nouri is another in a long line of cheats
All sides are bad but Wolves are particularly annoying
I'll just fall over, scream like a little girl and get another free kick from which we score from to deny Burnley a much needed and deserved 3 points. Piece of pi is this football lark.
Why the refs can't see what everyone else can is baffling

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
From where I was in the JHU I don't think he dived. He tried to do one of those fancy turns where they flick the ball the other way and change direction in one movement and he fell over the ball...just as O' Shea ran past him. No contact at all. I'll need to watch it back but it looks like another in a long line of rank bad decisions against us. Yes we should have defended it better but we should never have needed to defend it.

It wasn't a foul and it wasn't a dive. He twisted himself into a knot and fell over.
Why didn't VAR intervene. The clearest and most obvious of the lot so far led directly to a goal and they didn't sort it out. Why not?

Should never have been given.
Not close to a foul.
Having said that, that header wasn't the only free one we gave them on goal tonight.

I donr know the answer but when would VAR start the review from? Before the free kick or after it is taken?what_no_pies wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:15 pmIt wasn't a foul and it wasn't a dive. He twisted himself into a knot and fell over.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
Looked like he tripped over himself from JHU 4 but I would like to see it again. Well. I won’t like it but you know what I mean. I was happy with the performance though. Probably left it too late but, if we can keep the bulk of this squad I’m optimistic for next season.

I seem to recall corners that shouldn't have been corners being reviewed and goals chalked off. Why have VAR if its not going to sort that out?

Even from my vantage point on Longside Upper you could see that he just fell over but, as Vinny highlighted the other day, the officiating has just been appalling this season.

Just showed my wife the incident on my phone. She normally doesn't take even the slightest bit of interest but 'he just fell over' was her comment and even she was questioning how the officials can get that so badly wrong between them.

As fans, we need to start protesting the quality of decisions by poor referees this season. We need banners, booing the Premier League Anthem or something. Action needs to be taken.
I genuinely believe there's a conspiracy, and Howard Webb needs to resign.

A very soft free kick from where I sat, but we do see those every game in the Premier league. But the defending from it was very poor.

It happened in front of us and he fell over the ball. Twisted and fell over it. A joke of a decision given that the referee was right there. But poor defending for the header. What a good performance from us. I thought Brun Larsen scored a very nice goal but should really have buried the chance in the second half that was saved.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
It’s not a soft free kick as it’s not even a bloody foul he literally trips himself up with the Burnley player two yards away from him as the replays show.
Horrendous decision again as was letting Wolves players off from yellow cards after cynical fouls by rolling round pretending they’d injured themselves.

If the current lot are dispensed with and a few of them should be dispensed with, where are the better referees going to come from? Abroad? Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
The simple answer is that it wasn't a foul. The pace of the game is so great you see these given all the time so no special criticism of the ref from me.
I wouldn't be too harsh on the defending of a great free kick delivery.

The reason why VAR didn’t intervene is because it can’t overturn “fouls” outside the area

Two Leeds supporting family watching the game at home text straight away saying never a foul, and they're normally harsh on us for obvious reasons.

Be interesting to know what the delay was after their goal and what the ref would have done if we’d scored from the kick off.

It's not even a 'soft' foul as described.... and what makes it even more ridiculous the referee was in a perfect position to see it was not a foul. I'm fuming.

I sort of get that VAR can’t go too far back, but what are the rules about when VAR is used from (they’d probably still have got it wrong)?
Surely, if a goal comes directly from a set piece, they really should review the awarding of the free kick or corner to ensure the correct outcome.
These decisions are getting silly now - it’s starting to feel beyond bad luck.

Re: Free Kick Or No Free Kick
Nothing VAR could do. The delay would presumably be looking for offside.
The problem is that refs are taught to give free kicks essentially whenever a PL player asks for one, unless they are certain there was no foul. If a player falls over, and they aren't sure, they will give the free kick.

This one is really interesting…………..if VAR were having dialogue even just saying no, that wasn’t a foul but nowt we can do, that’d explain the farcical moments after ……….cant clubs insist on hearing the dialogue?
Either way. Getting totally bored of Premier League refereeing discussions…………..which in itself just shows how crap it is…….

Absolutely brain dead decision from Bramall. I think half the time refs just guess its a foul. Could have easily asked var if it was a foul. Robbed again by a crap ref.dsr wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 12:00 amNothing VAR could do. The delay would presumably be looking for offside.
