I wouldn't worry, as it won't be anything close to a respectable bid (i.e £50 million).

Saw Leicester linked with two LBs yesterday and neither of them were Charlie, thank goodness nobody rates our players as highly as we do.

They may have already gone in for Taylor and we've told them to do one. Or, they know now that they won't get our defenders on the cheap and so haven't bothered.

Hope we do get some decent singings in and back Dyche, he deserves it given the miracles he’s performed with us thus far .

Genuinely starting to get concerned with our business. Everyone we are competing with seem to be signing players that will improve there squads.

Palace with Eze
Leeds with Rodrigo
Newcastle with Frazer
Brighton with Veltmen

Tony do you know if Burnley are actively looking for players or are finances too tight?

Whilst I understand the frustration/concerns - none of those players will guarantee a higher finish than us.

We do need signings and Im not trying to say that I am not eagerly waiting to see who we can get in but each year, we are in the same position. The window is open for around another 40 days(5th October). If this was a normal season we are currently at the end of June. How often do we have people in that early? I certainly wouldnt be concerned at that point of the transfer window.

I agree, however I was just stating they are signings that will improve our rivals. I think two of them would have improved our starting eleven.

We always seem to get to the quite interested stage, then usually when the price for his services are quoted our interest usually fades away.

But dont worry, those more ITK about our transfer business have told us Matty Cash will be signing last week.

Not sure what the hold up is, but he will will be a great addition

If it's true we were in for him it's a good sign IMHO. As we know, EVERY transfer's a gamble but he seems to be a lad who can step up from L1. Why he's choosing Freiburg (with all due respect -above all to cricketfield) I don't know (if it's true).

We’re in for 4 players, two from Europe (one of which is Santamaria), other two from the Championship

Unless the player had a preference for German football, or some other link, you’d have thought we’d be a more attractive option than Freiburg.

Maybe one of interest but decided against?

Think the hold up is that Fulham, Sheffield United and now Villa are reportedly in for him mate

Re: your other point, would love to know how it works, but would imagine we have a small list of primary targets and a longer list of secondary. I think some of those that we have been linked with in the media will be very much early stage enquiries.

Such a shame we didn’t have approved plans in place. Can never understand why we don’t get the plans drawn up & approved even if there’s no immediate start planned. Now we’d have 12 months design & planning work to do before we could lay a shovel in the ground. We’ll all be back then.
Probably because planning permissions expire, and a huge amount of time and money are put into that stage. Going to all that time and expense to get a planning permission for something that we have no intention of building for the foreseeable future would be silly.

Planning permissions don't usually expire it's agreed & approved in principle, what was agreed provisionally remains intact the approval changes if the circumstances conflict with what was originally planned, you could have a plot on land or a building erected due for demolition finding some protected species, newts or birds would change that or other unforseen circumstances usually time as no bearing.

It’s 3 years minimum and you can request it is longer than that. Pretty sure the Council would allow that, under the circumstances. Plus resubmission of an expired permission is usually pretty quick. Then there’s outline and detailed plans that can be submitted at different stages.

The actual approval wasn’t my main point though - we don’t even seem to have the plans to submit.

Extreamely.

There always used to be someone who knew someone.
But I think even those that work in some areas of the club only really find out anything when deals are all but done.

Jay was a little different as everyone knew him, someone related to him or one of his friends.

As far as proper signings we were never going to be leading the race to sign players, we historically our business late, itll be another couple of weeks at the earliest IMO

Resubmission of an expired permission isn’t quick. The whole process starts again.

The reason we don’t have designs drawn up, if we don’t, is because we don’t have imminent plans to develop the stadium. How can we have plans drawn up if we don’t know what we want to develop?

You obviously haven't greased any palms after being granted approval, I know situations where things have sat in situ for decades before any sort of construction as taken place, nudge & wink & flashcash directed favourably you can pretty much do what you want. People are suspectible to bribes & can easily circumvent usual protocol, it's a racket which as produced millionaires throughout the years.

Would you have plans drawn up for an extension to your house if you had no intention of building an extension to your house?
Oddly enough, I have planning for a loft extension I haven’t yet started but plan to at some point over the next few years. For the exact reason I stated in my original post - I want to be ready when the time is right (in my case, that being: when I’ve saved up enough, when my preferred builder is available, when there is somewhere suitable to rent as the roof will have to come off).

But you’re missing the point. You are suggesting the reason that they don’t get prepared is because they have no plans to develop the ground. I disagree as the CEO said recently they do but it’s been put on hold due to COVID. If they plan to in future I think they should draw them up and have them ready to go (“shovel ready”, Boris might call it), that’s all.

Are we building a new stand instead of buying players?
Might get a stand built before we buy a first teamer at this rate

That is a bit odd I must say, if you don’t plan to start for a number of years. Make sure you keep your eye on the expiry date.

I haven’t heard anyone from the club say they have plans to develop the ground but happy to take your word for that. But unless they know exactly how they plan to develop it and the budget they have available then having designs drawn up would be a waste of time and money. If we got relegated this season for example, do you think our development plans would be the same? Will our budget now be the same as pre-COVID even?

Anyway, this thread is about transfers (like that was ever going to happen) so happy to leave it at that so it can get back on topic!
