Good footage that. Interesting to see the Brunshaw Road and Cricket Field ends from that angle.

Re: Burnley v Chelsea 1967
Fascinating piece of film, but one that perhaps has more questions than answers.
Must be Frank Casper scoring at the end but Frank didn't score against Chelsea that season '67/'68 and the only season that Casper and Willie Morgan played in the same team was '67/'68.
Not Villa as they were not in Division One that season.....Could it be Sheff Wednesday?

It looks like Chelsea to me, and Casper doesn't score, he hits the side netting

Looks like Ron 'Chopper' Harris in one of the clips. Also notice the Cricket Field End directly behind the goal is sectioned off.

I used to go in the paddock in front of the old Brunshaw road stand.
Pushed down to the front wall, great view.

They wouldn't be packed as there was only 17,651 there, when the capacity at the time was around 50,000.giveusaB wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 12:03 amA short video of Burnley v Chelsea (not Villa) on the turf in colour.Great to see all the old stands and longside packed.

Re: Burnley v Chelsea 1967
I don’t think that is Chelsea as the keeper is not Bonetti.

Re: Burnley v Chelsea 1967
Why did bob lord decide on a single tier stand to replace a 2 tier one? Massive reduction in capacity as well?

Re: Burnley v Chelsea 1967
If it's the Chelsea match in November 1967...google stats 11v11 shows Bonetti in goal. It is definitely Eddie McCreadie at left back. 1-1 draw.
Morgan & Osgood were the scorers.
Line up : Thomson Waldron Latcham ;O'Neil Merrington, Harris; Morgan, Casper, Irvine, Bellamy, Coates. Dobson 12th man.

Was Colin Waldron's 2nd game for us.
Left back at Southampton the game before, then he finally found the no.5 shirt.

You have to remember that footballer's in that era are not considered anywhere near as good as today's superstars ---they couldn't be that good because they didn't earn very much!levraiclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:14 pmWillie Morgan was class. £50m of anybody's money today.

Re: Burnley v Chelsea 1967
Who was Best? Another non-entity who wouldn't get in a team these days ---they were no good, they were unfit, they didn't roll around feigning injury or waving imaginary cards to help the referee. They just would not fit into the modern, sterile game.
