Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
I live in the middle of loads of terraced housing and last summer I saw a bird I didn't recognise at all on my bird table. It looked like a 'Tit' but it was pink, so I Googled it. Sure enough, it was. It was a long tailed tit. Never seen one in my life before and this one hasn't, unfortunately, been back. Beautiful bird.
You'll like this Boss. I saw a giant hedgehog last night. Biggest I've ever seen. Don't think it would have a chance of getting in my hedgehog box which has just been refurbished ahead of the winter.

Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
I was neither brave or foolish enough to take 1 on let alone 2 of them
Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
This little fella came to our front at 17:30, must have been starving he had a full pouch of our cats meat in gravy.
Very odd to see them out at that time.
Thankfully both the silly dog and grumpy old cat were indoors.

Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
Oh no, thought that was the right thing to do. He did wolf it down to be fair, it's his first visit, if he becomes a regular we will look at some genuine food for him.

Nope it was definitely meat in gravy, our cats not so keen on the fishy cat foods available.Bosscat wrote: βFri Sep 04, 2020 10:50 pmLooks like as long its not fush based its OK

Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
Got the feeders just when lockdown started, took a while for the birds to realise, but had around 23 species so far. Couldnβt believe it when a Great Spotted Woodpecker was on them, male and female both use them every other day.

Speaking of garden visitors. Had a Red Admiral on our kitchen window this morning. Not seen one of those for years.

I'd give the police a call, what Redbeard is doing outside your kitchen in the first place?

Don't have any pics, but today I've seen female Siskins for the first time in my life. Often see the brighter males, but no females.

Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
Lovely to see all of these. Currently being amused by the squirrels coming to the new-ash squirrel feeder. There's about half a dozen visit during the day, in disparate groups. There's 1 large one, that keeps everything else away. Then there's a pair of twins, who are mischievous and playful. One likes to sit in the plastic crate of spare feeders and garden bits, eating a few peanuts hidden in there, whilst the other sits on the wall, keeping watch eating the nut that it has taken from the feeder.
Final group is a group of 3 looks like a family group, 2 kids wait until the adult has eaten, then they take it un turns, looking like gatepost statues sitting back to back eating.
Super to see the gold crest in the photo above too. They seem to be booming here in Ireland over the last couple of years.

Re: Garden visitors on the bird feeder...
This is our resident blackbird, Scruff. As a youngster, he was the tattiest creature you could imagine but has developed into quite a handsome chappie in spite of his magpie/pied wagtail wannabe syndrome.
His white markings are caused by an abnormality known as leucism, apparently.
