Rovers
Rovers
1-1 draw at Leicester in a friendly yesterday. Brendan Rodgers saying they are a good side and will be challenging in the championship this season.
Anyone worried or is he just talking shite because he didn't beat them ?

Not sure how you can judge off a pre-season friendly.

Can’t judge off one game
Finished last season in decent form
Just an opinion that they will be around top 6 or 7

Re: Rovers
It appears to be an exceptionally weak Championship this year, so if they can achieve any level of consistency at all then they ought to be round and about the play-offs throughout the season.
Who are the the strong teams this season? No stand outs (IMO)
Bournemouth? Watford? Norwich? - all three are unpredictable.
Of the others; Brentford?, Forest? and the two Welsh teams, (maybe)

Hardly finished in decent form, just 2 wins from 9 after restart and only 3 wins in last 13.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 4:24 pmCan’t judge off one game

Yeah, going off how they played last season overall, I expect them to be sniffing around the playoffs.
Re: Rovers
Solid manager is Mowbray. Rovers often threaten the play offs then go on a terrible run of form as soon as they’re within touching distance.

Fallen out of touch with all things Rovers since lockdown, so not sure what types of players they’ve brought in and so on.
Always got potential to go up... there’s more stability now, I like Tony Mowbray too, Venkys not interfering anymore - maybe this is their season

Re: Rovers
The team, incredibly, isn't bad..theyve got rid of a shocking keeper in Walton, and signed a half decent one. Dack ready to return from Injuryand a lot of dead wood has been shipped out. I'd see them as play off contenders at the very least.
The club overall though, is a festering hulk....a carcass ready to be picked over by the vultures...it stinks to high heaven of everything that's bad about professional football today, and could sink without trace if given a
simple thumbs down from whoever is the top banana in a gang of third world poultry merchants.

Well yes, but it would appear that they're good now for another season, propped up (inexplicably) by the Venkys. I keep thinking they'll lose patience and cut their losses, but there's nothing to suggest that they'll pull out this season now.fatboy47 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 4:50 pm

I think they'll sneak into the playoffs, or narrowly miss out by a few points.
That better?

Venky's have sunk between £200m-£225m into Rovers and the importance of " saving face " in the Indian culture leads me to believe that they won't be selling up until they have Rovers back in the Premier League ...nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 4:55 pmWell yes, but it would appear that they're good now for another season, propped up (inexplicably) by the Venkys. They're funding an operating loss of around £390,000 a week, and a wages/turnover rate of 154%

Re: Rovers
Looks to me as if they need a goal scorer - Then they’ll be a decent side if they don’t lose any players - however I believe they could have interest in a few of theirs before the window closes . They also lost Adarabiyo who was on loan from City at centre half, they need to replace him also in my opinion.
Top 6 this year for me will be - Norwich, Forest, Watford, Brentford, Bournemouth and Stoke,
Swansea and Preston possibly to push them, but it certainly
Looks a weak league this year

Re: Rovers
No - got off with it, no rules broken and threatening to sue the EFL for costs as a result of the charges - the ground sale was totally dismissed and the very unusual approach to amortisation accepted because it was not illegal in British company or football law - another loophole that needs closingnil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 9:15 pmI may have missed an update, but haven't they potentially got a large points deduction imminent? Re: Rovers
No. The context of the thread is clearly about where Rovers will finish. And a few (most agree that 3 is a few) is just outside the top 6 or sneaking in.
Anyway, welcome to the list.
Re: Rovers
Think both them and pne won’t be a million miles away this year from playoffs, they both have decent managers for that level and settled squads and both go again with similar squads.I always tend to find with the championship is that the team that wins it is a team which has been in it the season before (Leeds last year). The relegated teams take a while to adjust back to it.Allthough the 3 relegated teams do look really strong for that level this time,I’m still going to say one of them three won’t win the title.

I don't think this season will be any different to the previous for Rovers who will be bang average.
The sides who will fill the top 6 berths will be those who are on Premier league parachute payments, this is now the norm.

So is 4,5,6, or 7. You're just making it up as you go along. Who is included in your 'most' survey anyway. A master of the sweeping statement in full voice.

And according to your profile you are 68. Even for Rawtenstall that warrants a 'Jesus wept'.
