Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Talk about moving the goalposts. Yesterday's news about new Covid restrictions on sport only highlight the need for clubs like Burnley, to be very careful about how they spend money at the moment, as things can clearly change at any time.
The money the club is losing at the moment is not just gate receipts. It extends to merchandise (Have you bought a new shirt yet? I haven't.) and hospitality which both bring the club a lot of money.
It's now highly likely that none of us will be going on the Turf this season and the board has to plan for that. There's also the possibility, that after what happened at West Ham last night, the infection could spread to other clubs and games could be stopped altogether, with the consequent loss of all TV revenue. What happens then?
OK, this might be a worst case scenario, but a responsible board has to plan for that, so it's no surprise to some of us that the BFC board is justifiably being very careful at the moment.

I think Stephens is a very astute signing with the uncertainty over finances and the coronavirus not going away in a hurry.
Not convinced we'll be signing a CB. More likely to be a right winger with JBG and Brady both injury prone.

A very good signing at an attractive price. Tarkowski also included in tonight’s squad so things are looking up. Even though Sean Dyche might at times feel frustrated, I don’t think the board can splash large amounts of cash around at this particular time. Over the last few years, eight figure sums have been spent on Vydra, Wood, Defour, Hendrick, Brady and Gibson. Add to this hefty seven figure sums for Cork, Westwood, etc., and you have quite an outlay with very little return from outgoing players. Stephens is a very astute acquisition who will easily fill the gap left by Hendrick’s departure.

Leeds bringing in a Centre Back from Sociedad, taking their summer spending to over £70 million
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Established premier league sides can do that, theyve slowly built a successful model over time and are now reaping the rewards.
Im sure we would be able to do similar with a sound business model, and after 5 years in the league at 120m a time.

Whilst we could do with more foreign players I actually hate seeing club line ups that are all or nearly all foreign players.

They got their manager and players in the championship, not through sound business plans but because of a dodgy Portuguese agent, who represented them all. What they cost the club, and how much the agent had made, I doubt we'll ever know.

not a chance in a million seasons that a club our size, without a multi billionaire backer, could do that.

Personally, I wouldn't ever want BFC to do that like that.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
It may be known by some on here, but the EFL don't insist on their teams testing for Covid.
According to the radio this morning, West Ham offered to pay for the testing of all the Hull contingent
in advance of the game, obviously protecting themselves, but the Hull Chairman, "after careful consideration"
declined the offer.
Ironic or what ?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
The one thing I instantly think about when I see his name is that goal he scored on the Turf for Bournemouth just before they took the ball to the other end for a penalty.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Nothing wrong with that as JBG is left footed and clearly favours playing on the right hand side.

Please not harry Wilson. He’s not actually any good. Would rather we got a nice championship winger such as Eliasson who can Play for us for years rather than Wilson who lives off his free kicks.

Could we get him on a loan with a promise to buy if we stay in the Prem? What difference does it make which foot he uses? Nobody says oh no Ronaldo another right footer.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
This Harry Wilson rumour is a very very strong one according to a person I know around Liverpool fc, they said permanent @18m but I could only see a loan deal at that sort of money
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Hope to be proved wrong but just can't see this as a permanent signing with our purse strings

The thing is, that could be a sound investment, and I feel the club would only spend that sort of money if they're confident of getting more back at a later date.
He's 23 so we could very realistically make a profit if he stayed for 2-3 years.
