If he's half as good as James he can be as arrogant as he wants.

Doesn't matter if he's left footed, if he's primarily a right winger.

If he is comfortable at using the most appropriate foot for the position/circumstances he is in it will be great.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 5:35 pmDoesn't matter if he's left footed, if he's primarily a right winger.
Vydra could have had an earlier goal last night if he'd gone with his left foot, rather than stretching and not connecting with his right. McNeil would have put some "killer" passes in, if he could use his right boot, occasionally.
I wonder, do any of the "statistical analysis" services track not only which foot was used, but which foot it would have been better to use? Along with, of course, the strength of the player with their "wrong" foot.

Would be a cracking signing , and in the (surely unlikely event of Tarky staying ) we could be a really serious outfit once the injured are back

Re: Harry Wilson
Recent history has shown wingers playing on their 'correct' foot to be the fullbacks. Wingers have invariably played on their wrong side.
I notice, however, there have been recent moves amongst some of the big boys to put wingers back on their proper side.
Revolutionary, eh?

Re: Harry Wilson
His technical ability at free kicks is exceptional-just watched him on You Tube. Could easily score half a dozen goals for us at direct free kicks. When was the last time excluding Defour and Brady that we scored from a direct free kick. Great thing about these specialists being they can just as easily score direct free kicks v the best teams and goalkeepers as hit right they are unstoppable
He also scores goals from long distance first time shots-albeit mainly with his left foot but by moving in from the right

Re: Harry Wilson
Wingers really haven't progressed as you'd imagine they should have since 1972, when we had Thomas and James, who were both brilliant with either foot.
All these modern coaching techniques and analysis and they're still churning out one-footed players.

This would be one of our best signings in years I think. But, as always with this board and spending money, I'll wait until it happens.

Re: Harry Wilson
The offer is probably so low that dont take BFC seriously. On a positive that means no other club is close to having an offer accepted either
Re: Harry Wilson
The theory is that it's your fullbacks nowadays who are out on the touchline whipping in crosses.Giftonsnoidea wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 6:04 pmI know I just don’t get our aversion to an actual right footed right winger, would make crosses into the box much easier for our forwards at the near post
So that they have the space to do this the winger needs to come inside and if you have a winger who's coming inside it's better if they play with the opposite foot.
Obviously if you don't have a fullback who can bomb down the line this isn't as good and having a two footed winger would give the option of going either way but I guess we can't have everything.

Still being worked on. Opening offer a bit low. Liverpool may take less than original 20. And player doesn’t have many other Prem options. So it’s got a chance if offer improves and wages can be agreed.
Re: Harry Wilson
The comparisons with James made me think, fondly, of the abuse (all good natured) he used to get at Lowerhouse when he turned out for Burnley. Wilson not a cricketer as well is he?

It wouldn’t take much for another club to step in and scupper this. Leeds type. Hopefully not though.

Taffy was arrogant, I knew him well and can vouch for that, but he's also a really decent bloke when you get to know him. He just had a high opinion of himself and probably with some justification.

So long as he is a genuine threat on that flank then it doesn't matter which foot he uses.

Re: Harry Wilson
They’ve some wingers at Liverpool. Jones already got 2 tonight, Elliot on the other side, Shaqiri can’t get a game, Jota on the bench now then you’ve got the first team lads!
It’s no wonder he’s looking to leave if he’s any ambition of playing some first team footy

Re: Harry Wilson
He's always looked like a poor man's David Brookes, and I'm never really happy when he starts - usually as it means that someone that ought to be first choice is inured. He's not going to get many starts now with bale, Brookes, James and Ramsey ahead of him for the three spots, but he's a great sub, and has never let Wales down for effort.
He has also matured a lot. Seemed a bit arrogant at under 23 for a bit, but that oddly changed when he was left there when Brookes, ampadu and mepham got called up to the first team (rightly) before him. He's now an attribute for Wales and I think he would be for us.
