Well it's not, you've to pay to get past Mike Garlicks smiling face to any sort of news, report or write up.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
An American investment company has se its sights on turning Burnley into a Moneyball project.
ALK Capital has taken an interest in the Premier League club with a view to implementing a data and analytics driven blueprint for success.
It’s a model that Brentford have employed in recent seasons and one that was immortalised in the book Moneyball by Michael Lewis, in 2003, which charts the Oakland Athletics’ rise in baseball where they profited from spotting talent that other clubs failed to identify.
The Times understands no takeover of the Lancashire club is imminent but talks are taking place with the Burnley chairman,Mike Garlick, who owns a 49.2% interest in the club.
Sources claim that representatives of ALK have visited Burnley’s new training ground as part of their research.
Ironically given the frustrations do Sean Dyche, the manager, at the absence of investment in new players, it is the lack of major spending power that makes Burnley an attractive proposition for the US businessmen.
A well run and financially solid business with a reputation for careful fiscal management, Burnley are seen as the kind of club that could benefit from ALK’s expertise and connections in the business of scouting and analytics.
Alan Pace, managing partner of ALK capital, is a Wall Street executive who was also president of MLS club Real Salt Lake. Along with tha teams owner Dave Cheketts, he made an attempt to buy Sheffield United last season.

Some may disagree, but I quite like the blueprint we’re working to now! 6 out of 11 years in the premier league. We must already be doing some things right. But if this potential investment were to move us up another level, it would be remiss of us not to consider their offerWhatsupdoc wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:35 amAn American investment company has se its sights on turning Burnley into a Moneyball project.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I dont think the "moneyball" strategy would work here. Part of the moneyball strategy involved exploiting some of the rules of major league baseball, which dont exist in england.Bigvince wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:53 amSome may disagree, but I quite like the blueprint we’re working to now! 6 out of 11 years in the premier league. Our style of play does flatter some players, specifically our defenders and goal keepers, which can lead to inflated transfer fees for them but isnt a long term business model.

"The Mirror reported one option for Jones was to undergo surgery. United are said to have decided against this as it would rule him out until 2021Reecey1987 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 6:45 pmJust because he doesn't fit into united's team it doesn't mean he will be no good for us . The objective is to sell Jones, a player who played just two Premier League games this past season.
The problem is that Jones is not a very attractive buy for clubs right now either.
Jones presents a serious injury risk for teams looking to take him on. There is a very real chance he would fail a medical.
With it already suggested via the media that Jones would ideally have required an operation on his knee, teams will be fearful of signing him and sending him for surgery weeks later"
Hopefully that puts an end to that

Roma have offered 18million, United want 20 - plus he will be on huge wages
The only one we could possibly afford in terms of wages is the young right back Diogo Dalot who is on about 25-30K apparently, we wont pay the 18-20 million they want for him either though

Smalling is on £70k so not massively off the mark for us and assume part of his wages could be funded by United. Roma do want him but have only offered £12m last time I looked and I suppose it depends whether he wants to play abroad given the current travel/quarantine restrictions.

He did very well at Roma and apparently Inter Milan want him too, although appreciate the game is much slower there. Hard to tell, but he seems fit and I would say a good experienced signing.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 10:10 pmAbout Smalling.......he's over the hill & useless and expensive.

John Percy saying the £30m bud rejected but a bid of £35-40m maybe enough.
I think we should be aiming for £40m + add ons.
As for a replacement, I think we’ve been linked with Tomori at Chelsea before who could be a good option. Young and potential resell value. £15m on him and £15m on Wilson would be good business.

So Chris Smalling who was a regular for Roma last year in Serie A isn't as good as Kevin Long or Jimmy Dunne?
