Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
I love this club and will always be a devoted Claret but it's perhaps difficult to argue with the general tone of the article. Having said that I am prone to the gloomy outlook after we have lost a couple of games ....if we'd managed to win on Saturday I might feel differently.

I can only assume that Burnley stuffed Sarah Winterburn's team at some stage, and she's never forgiven us.

No one like us, we don’t care.
Same bollcocks different year. We are AlWAYS written off.... THEY are always wrong, eventually they will get lucky but not this season. I believe we will finish comfortably safe.

Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
It says alot about Southampton doesn't it. Apart from the goal I don't remember us not being able to "contain danny ings".
Also, are we run like a championship club? There's defi itely things wrong but that's a bit harsh

"roll of the Dyche" ...I stopped reading at this point. Is she a schoolgirl?
Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
She's a Huddersfield fan from what I remember. The article doesn't seem that controversial.

Clickbait headline aside, it's a pretty sensible summary of the position the club and Dyche are in. Particularly odd to see sexist responses in this thread, I think.

Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
Most of the article is pretty fair though unnecessary ending. People whinge about the big clubs winning everything and hoovering players up, but don't want unfashionable clubs like Burnley competing in the PL either.
Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
She likes Dyche, so she likes the style of football, so presumably what she doesn't like is that we haven't as much money to spend as other clubs.
Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
A reasonable summary based on what is heard from our manager at pretty much every press conference
The fact that Garlick publically hides away from the issues raised still adds fuel to the fire of statements like this

For the first time in a long time, the club is a bit of a soap opera at the moment. It's showing the tendancies, of those basket case clubs that I usually expect us to finish above. The article seems fair. The comments from other fans below, less so. West Ham fans - some of the worst. Never won anything, and have a massive sense of entitlement. "If I watched that every week I'd stop going" - West Ham.... not Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Man Utd - bloody West Ham. And still going. Clowns.

Jamie Carragher went mental about the Fulham CEO (owners son) going on twitter last night. Saying they should be know where near social media telling the fans about plans and transfer strategies etc..

I didn't enjoy the performance on Saturday with all the long ball lumping, I certainly would of switched off if it was a club I never supported.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:17 amFor the first time in a long time, the club is a bit of a soap opera at the moment. So how you expect opposition fans to enjoy it I don't know?

Ah...because playing the of Huddersfield worked out well for them in their brief forage into the top league didn't it. We played alright against them too from what I can remember.

Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
That's the futility of picking one performance to base your argument around. Have you seen where West Ham have finished, and the football they play? Long diagonal outball to Antonio. They have seen some good performances from Burnley, we've played them off the park a few times down there.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:35 amI didn't enjoy the performance on Saturday with all the long ball lumping, I certainly would of switched off if it was a club I never supported.

That is just like the tired old drivel that visiting managers trot out about us. We are who we are and if we had a bit of money we would be somebody else!

If we needed a win on the turf to stay up then West Ham would be my first choice of opponents.
But I can definitely see why opposition fans don't like our style.
Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
I know it’s not related to football but I’ve just looked up a picture of her and she looks like she fell out of the ugly tree and hit every ugly branch on the way down, if that makes you feel better?

The point at which I start worrying about what opposition fans think about our style is the point I’ll know I’m not really interested in Burnley anymore, thankfully I couldn’t give a ****!Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 12:11 pmOh don't get me wrong I could rip West Ham to pieces.

While the article is reasonably fair in reporting our current situation it isn’t helped by it’s sneering tone.
Still, as I said, water off a ducks back to me.

That ain't one performance mate it's 4 years of hoofball that has put many Burnley fans off never mind other fans.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 12:02 pmThat's the futility of picking one performance to base your argument around. Probably a good job it's put some off..... it's a struggle to get any more in the ground. And if they're put off by this, imagine how far away they'll be when it's not the best time to support the club in many a generation.

Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
Articles like this show that some journalists seem to only think of football as being able to pass a ball around ---no matter what the end product is. This is the modern game where you must have at least 1000 passes per game, even if 900 of them are across the back four,
Last weekend, Brighton 53%: Burnley 53%: Man City 72%: Wolves 63% and Fulham 65% ---all lost!
Chelsea 76% and Spurs 66% both drew.
Both Southampton and Newcastle had only 1 shot on target but one won and the other drew.
That is the nature of football, the game has changed and is still changing, however, the objective is to score more than your opponents and hopefull that will never change ----although I wouldn't guarantee that!

Re: Burnley - The most boring circus in the North West
Who cares what other fans think about our style of play?
Are we supposed to just turn up and let the other side win by playing pretty football?
Didn't do Bournemouth much good did it?

The author seems to not like us in this article from a few years back, which has not aged well. Several digs at our club, particularly the one about club history.

She might not like us but I cannot argue with any of her points. It's such a frustrating club, I cannot believe we still have Sean Dyche as manager. I hope for his sake a more ambitious club come and take him away. I'd like to see how far he can progress

Notice how Sarah doesn’t even consider how much Boro were paying the ‘Spanish triptych with extensive La Liga experience’ in salaries.

To be fair that was the sentence after your quote Wages are of course an issue with Boro choosing to spend more extensively than the frugal ClaretsSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 12:02 pmNotice how Sarah doesn’t even consider how much Boro were paying the ‘Spanish triptych with extensive La Liga experience’ in salaries.
