we should set a date deadline over Tarks
For me 5pm tomorrow is deadline day/time for Tarks, ring West Ham, Leicester, Tarks agent and Tarks. Everybody knows the score then, why should we be sold down the river come Monday ?
We play hardball buying players why not selling them. Take the uncertainty "will he, wouldn't he" out the situation and do whats best for us and no other club/s.

You would hope a club run by such astute businessmen would have already done something along those lines

But he is injured, so in theory would fail a medical. Wouldn't he...….???

You can say what you want, make up whatever 'rules' you choose, if someone offered £45m on Monday we'd still take it.

If he really was carrying a minor toe injury then I very much doubt he would fail his medical.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:35 pmBut he is injured, so in theory would fail a medical. Wouldn't he...….???
As for the wider point, we have an additional 11 days after the PL transfer window closes to sign players from the football league. I suspect we will have targets in the Championship that we would make a move for if Tarkowski was to leave at the last minute.

Footballers don’t fail medicals when injured (mostly)Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:35 pmBut he is injured, so in theory would fail a medical. Wouldn't he...….???
It’s more for an underlaying problem or say a broken leg that has major concern.
A toe injury would be fine.
As for a deadline, rubbish. If we did that and everyone said no, the club then wouldn’t reject £50m on deadline day. He’s pretty much worthless come January.

Or not, selling late and not replacing or replacing cheap might be the aim.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:29 pmYou would hope a club run by such astute businessmen would have already done something along those lines
If we are getting taken over, these cash reserves or last lot of fees received wont be nicely handed over to the new guys one wouldn't have thought.
It's all a little fishy if you ask me.
Itll all come out in the wash though

worthless ??? do you know how much it is to survive in the premiership ?? think our best player may just help us with that cause - rendering him if we survive priceless.

Good stuff. I'd sooner we keep him and get Ben Mee back.

He'd still have 18 months left on his contract. Far from worthless in a market where clubs are more desperate.Dyched wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:44 pmFootballers don’t fail medicals when injured (mostly)

Not sure why he would be worthless in January or even next summer for that matterDyched wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:44 pmFootballers don’t fail medicals when injured (mostly)

Do you genuinely believe he will be worthless come January? Even January 22 he wouldn’t be worthless.
Clubs don’t let key players go for peanuts, no matter what their contract situation is, as key players are worth far much more, especially to Burnley, in the team.

Sorry, but no. However, it's looking more likely that he's off anyway, without any source.

He’s definitely not worthless but I read somewhere that when a player reaches 18 months left he begins to lose value.

Plenty of time for the dominoes to fall into place yet.

Re: we should set a date deadline over Tarks
Worthless was a but ott I know.
If West Ham have bid £35m which was rejected and we want £50m, look at it like this. If West Ham think that’s too much, they’ll leave it. Come January they may come back and other £35m will have to be accepted imo by Burnley. Due to covid reason I can’t see big money being spent in January. Teams will only spend if a player can make an impact immediately. They’d have already played half the season and only if their desperate and Tarks can turned their season around would they by. Because they know in another 6 months (Summer 2021), they’d have him for even less.
A player with 12 months left are not worth a lot. So from now till then January is the half way point. Next summer he’d be worth £20m. £35m in January. If that is the case would it be suitable to suit us to hold onto him losing £15m plus wages until jan, or £30m plus wages until next summer.
Figures are obviously not correct, but that ideas has and does happen, regularly.
