Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
from todays Liverpool Echo:
'...Wilson has looked very lively in training and his future may be dependent on whether a certain Xherdan Shaqiri leaves the club.
Liverpool are open to offers for the Swiss international and should he depart, Wilson will stay at Liverpool no matter what offer the club receive for him...'
Shaqiri would fit in well at Burnley!

Shaqiri is a good player but he's now 28 whereas Wilson is only 23. I think I'd rather get Wilson for the long term than an expensive Shaqiri for a relatively short term.claretblue wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:25 pmfrom todays Liverpool Echo:

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, Wilson seems to be nowhere near the starting 11, so I doubt this would make a difference. Possibly done to push us into making an acceptable offer.claretblue wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:25 pmfrom todays Liverpool Echo:

Liverpool v arsenal tomorrow night. Might be some movement after that game, either way!

Against Tranmere you mean?
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
I can only go off what two people that work at the club (one on the coaching staff) that I'm related to told me last week, they were very confident it was happening last week, the more it drags on the more likely another club will bidGranny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:22 pmA bit different to what you were saying last week when you said he would sign on 25.9.20.

I hope your sources are decent, and you aren't doing a Wellsy
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
If Marc Roca is a available for €9m and willing to come to Burnley then it should be a no brainer.
Have a feeling we'll see ourselves stocked in central midfield now with the signing of Stephens though, which is exactly the scenario I was concerned over with his signing in that he takes up finance and squad space that could be much better used.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Not sure what I believe is more likely. Wilson signing first or (if true) two members of BFC getting their P45's earlier than expected

4 central midfielders for 2 spots. That's how it should be.Mattster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 5:36 pmIf Marc Roca is a available for €9m and willing to come to Burnley then it should be a no brainer.

Fulham just got Ademola Lookman on loan, good bit of business. Wer just don't get them.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:35 pmShaqiri is a good player but he's now 28 whereas Wilson is only 23. Joshua king apparently can leave for 10m
Csn play out wide and through the middle, still only 28

Somehow just don't see him being out type of striker really. They should be concentrating on defence. No good scoring three at one end if you concede six at the other.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 5:37 pmFulham just got Ademola Lookman on loan, good bit of business. Wer just don't get them.

That's my point, we're now on 4.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 5:37 pm4 central midfielders for 2 spots. That's how it should be.
Westwood, Brownhill, Cork, Stephens.

My mind could be playing tricks. Pretty sure he was played by Charlton as a striker. Not a bad player, bit raw but potential back then. Don't remember him playing wide right against us. Thought JBG was in our promotion season?boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 6:06 pmI thought he played wide right, perhaps it was in a front 3 though?

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
apparently his best position is left-wing, so no good to us anyhow.
Though my main point wasn't really about the specific player, more how clubs get loans done when they need them. A £i.8m loan fee.
Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Fair point. We don't half drag our feet, if we even start dragging them.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 6:29 pmapparently his best position is left-wing, so no good to us anyhow.

Re: BFC TRANSFER NEWS SUMMER 2020(MUST CONTAIN LINK)
Even if we were trying to bring Roca to the club which I don’t think we are , why wouldn’t we accommodate him? Cork may be out for a considerable amount of time - plus we have an ageing midfield barring Brownhill as far as starters are concerned , also would give us scope to change shape during games having more
Options in the centre ! Defending a lead ? Go to 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 whichever way you’d like to look at it .

Always the issue with anonymous tip offs, they always say exactly what you want them to say.

The same guy subject to a 30m move 18 months ago?
At 10m I'd have him over quite a few others that would cost that sort if fee, but that might just be me.

Being a new claret, you obviously aren’t used to the way our transfer windows work! You’ll get used to it after a few windows

I did think this one would be different, I’ll admit that. To be honest, I hate transfer windows. I’d have one per season & make it two weeks if it were left to me. I always raise my hopes on unrealistic signings however many times I end up disappointed!

Josh king is to flash in the pan & wouldn't necessarily represent any improvements, he looked good previously because he was playing in a poor Bournemouth side.

SD’s interview last night was interesting in the extent to which his call for reinforcements had softened.
We’ve gone from his “action” jibe to “one or two, but only if they can help us” with 5 days.

He's softened his interviews a lot recently, saying its not just the chairman involved in signing players saying he understands the money issues etc etc... Perhaps somebody has had a wordagreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 9:26 amSD’s interview last night was interesting in the extent to which his call for reinforcements had softened.

Maybe he has been shown the balance sheet before and since Covid and where we will be in March 2021
A dose of reality usually works for anyone with something between their ears
Or he may now know how much or how little the Board can pay for one or two incoming players

In the absence, seemingly, of any major outgoings perhaps SD realises that the funds won't be there for bringing in players of quality on permanent deals.

Shaqiri all day long, he' has a good 4 years left in him at this level has Shaqiri and he is class.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:35 pmShaqiri is a good player but he's now 28 whereas Wilson is only 23. Not going to happen though anyway, he's like a premier league Robbie Blake.
