I hope our players and board are watching
VILLA
Average side mauling the current champions
Thats what pace and new signings get you
No offsides. Simple tearing apart of a top european back line
And we struggle to get a shot on goal

Theyve spent nigh on £200 million since they came up.
What have we spent in that time ? £15m tops.? Literally in another League

Not an excuse by any stretch but don’t Liverpool have injuries to key players?

What did Cash play like??
Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Agreed, however that then adds power to the "We dont belong with the cash rich clubs of the Premier League" ? but we have spent nothing compare to others and still held a good position.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 9:11 pmTheyve spent nigh on £200 million since they came up.

I for one think we are at a sliding doors situation, and I am intrigued to what happens.

Losses of £450m over the last 10 years. If that's the sort of Club you want to support that's up to you. On the other hand I dont.

Two points;
We finished 19 points above Villa last season.
In terms of signings they are shopping in a totally different market to us.

Villa are a big club, with a big budget to match.
That doesn’t make it any less infuriating when we **** about every transfer window, though.

It does me me giggle comments like this, so if we had very wealthy owners who could underwrite these losses, you wouldn't support your team ?Claretincraven wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 9:16 pmLosses of £450m over the last 10 years. Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Not as straightforward of a question as you seem to suppose. Most people around football are realising football does live in reality and is not immune to market shifts. The money will be falling and back rolling football clubs will lose its shine, if normality does not return soon.
The last thing I want is a club that is relying on one mans whim, especially one with no connection to the club. When the billionaires move on to buying theatre companies or some such.... football at a lot of clubs becomes unsustainable. When the bubble bursts on football.... like it did in the Dorian, South Sea, dot com and countless other bubbles... it is those that are most self sufficient at whatever Level they are competing, that will survive.

Re: I hope our players and board are watching
So anyone who isn’t as big as your beloved Liverpool can’t be classed as a big club, Sidney?
Aston Villa, European Cup winners, based in England’s second city and owned by billionaires aren’t a big club?
Stop talking out of your arse.

Cash always looks a tackle away from a red card for me. As a whole today though Villa looked awesome. There looks to be 4 poor teams in the league this year. Us, Sheff U, WBA and Fulham. Let's hope the international break rejuvenates us.

Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Do you understand what 'average' is?
If you did you'd know that 10th in a table of 20 teams is certainly average.

I was asking a question because last year Villa were way below average. This year they have won every game so are above average.
I suppose if you take the average from the average then that might make them average?

Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Probably not because they have made additions over the summer, so last season's squad is different to this seasons. Everyone knows that few faces can complete a squad and change everything. Look at Alisson, Van Dijk, Salah, Robertson coming in at Liverpool, they took them from 4th to 2nd to Champions over 3 seasons.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:34 amI do thankyou.

Once the season finishes it's a totally blank slate.
Villa have added Barkley, Cash, Martinez, Watkins and Traore. Four of those players started yesterday and the other came on from the bench.
Hardly a surprise that they look much better this season.

What a signing Ross Barkley looks by the way. Brought an all new dimension to that Villa team.

Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Actually...yes. 10th is exactly average in a league of 20
Now when that average side have lost players without replacing them then said average side will no doubt turn into a poor side

**** off
Villa aren't a big club, just like Forest aren't, nor Newcastle.
They've got a big budget.
Honestly some of you are just bizarre with your obsession to call other clubs big based on something they did decades ago.

5th highest points tally of all time, too. Yeah, not a big club at all...
No wonder fans of other teams think most of our fans are numbskulls. Hardly surprising, though, seeing as you’re a self confessed Premier League generation fan, switching allegiance left, right and centre.

Couldn't give a toss about their points tally, something they did a couple of generations OK doesn't mean they're a big club forever more.

If they’re not a big club then I’d love to know what your definition of a big club is.
Presumably Everton aren’t a big club also, and Liverpool only became a big club again after winning the Champion League under Rafa.
Speaking of Champions League, do you consider AC Milan to be a big club still? Serious question.

Last FA Cup win - 1957
League Cup - 96
European Cup - 82
That's a long time ago, but you can keep on clinging onto that history if it makes you fell better with your claims that they're a massive club
You're sounding like a Leeds fan when they talk about their club.
In regards to AC Milan, yeah, they've been winning stuff this century, both domestic and international so it's safe to say they can still be regarded as a big club.
If they went 30-40 yrs without winning anything then no.
Someone on the BBC match day feed had it right about Utd.
They can't continue to claim the title of biggest club in the world when they're not winning or even challenging for the games top honours.
Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Leeds have always had a big fan base but haven’t really achieved anything like their fan base thinks they have. Nowhere near as big as Villa.
You never answered my question about Everton? Presumably by your logic they’re no longer a big club?
Just to add, you’re now insinuating that I said Villa were massive, which I never did. I said they were big. England only has two ‘massive clubs’ - Manchester United and Liverpool.
There you go, your darling Liverpool are a massive club, even though they won not a great deal by their standards for 20 years.

No I don't think Villa are a big club, Everton are just a permanent fixture in the top flight, not quite big like an Arsenal for example, and not small enough to be average like a Villa, West Ham, Newcastle , they just hung around not doing a lot.
I think the arrival of Ancelotti will change that, hence why I've put a bet on them to finish top 4 and one on them to win the league
Re: I hope our players and board are watching
Hardly desperation! You’re a self confessed Liverpool fan that had no interest in Burnley before May 2009. One of the half and half scarf wearers that dandeclaret used to mention.
I’m surprised you’re still here to be honest after the scousers romped the league last year.

Weird isn't it how I'm not one of those mardy tantrum throwing adults on here every time the team has a bad run or when we've been relegated, demanding a manager or chairman leaves, that's always the horn and bred Clarets.BurnleyFC wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:26 pmHardly desperation! Just reinforcing my point though, you don't like what I say and can't counter it so you bring up Liverpool.
Can I suggest you run along and play elsewhere, maybe a playground would be more your level.
