Who am I?
Who am I?
I becmme joint chairman of a football club when they were on the up, and I realised I was onto a winner with a manager who worked miracles.
I becomes sole chairman when I could see I could potentially hit the jackpot here.
I spent 0p of my own actual cash on the running of the club ( not that i should )
I made the "business" look like it's making great profits, and is on a sound footing, year after year.
I kept saving the cash the miracle worker had earnt the club to show record profits, and the balance sheets would look great to any interested buyer.
I welcome offers for the club.
I look set to double my personal wealth/fortune over night with a sale, and the biggest pay day of his life.
You are always likely to see or hear me when things are going well.
What a extreamely well executed plan, and done in a relatively short space of time whilst riding on the back of someone else's success.

Re: Who am I?
This football club ownership lark is so easy. It's amazing that more people don't take over relegated clubs if you're guaranteed such a windfall. Admittedly Macca is probably one of the few who thinks we were on the up before Dyche came in but each to their own.
Although I can't believe we're owned by someone with the temerity to make profits for the club. Losses are quite clearly the way forward to guarantee the financial safety of the club.

Re: Who am I?
This is accurate. He's been trying to get out for a long time. This transfer window has been shot in the head because of the imminent takeover. If it doesn't happen he/we are in trouble because of the toxic environment that will create.MACCA wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:08 pmI become joint chairman of a football club when they were are on the up, realised I was onto a winner with a manager who worked miracles.

He's a businessman, first and foremost. Its a dangerous game he's playing though. If he doesn't get rid now the lack of incomings could see us down which will leave Garlic with one big fat angry headache.

Re: Who am I?
Like a post I've just seen
We have spent the same amount this window ( after 5 successive years in the premier league) as we did 20........ TWENTY years ago on Ian Moore when we were in league 1.
Now read that again until it sinks in to how bad this window has been.
We still have Kevin Long as 3rd choice CB for Christ sake, he is a league 1 defender at very best.
Yet people believe this man is looking out for Burnley's best interests?
Wake up, he's looking after his own, and only his own.

At least we made profit this transfer window after the loan fee for Gibson
Re: Who am I?
Excuse my accounting ignorance but isn't the value of players bought shown as assets on the balance sheet? So if we invest 20m on a marquee signing won't the total assets on the balance sheet still be the same - less 20m cash plus 20m player value?

Let’s presume for a moment that we don’t have any money. If this is the case, how would you suggest that we sign players?MACCA wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:36 pmLike a post I've just seen

Re: Who am I?
Exactly, it would cost at least a quarter of Garlick’s wealth to buy a lower end prem player, I’m not sure I’d give a quarter of everything I own to Burnley.
Re: Who am I?
The question still stands.Rumbletonk wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:45 pmYou need to understand he's trying to sell the club. That is the sole reason we won't be buying anyone
Realistically the club doesn't have a great deal of money. Where is the money going to come from to buy players.
If people are expecting Garlick to loan the club money then they have to understand he isn't really rich enough to finance that.
For those who think we're preparing the accounts for a takeover, assuming the intention after the takeover is to carry on running the club as it is with Dyche in charge then signing a player that Dyche wants will have an absolutely minimal impact on the price.

Re: Who am I?
Re the OP. Thing is MG's failure to bring in Gibson's replacement is the main reason why we have no points. Something that should have been sorted ages ago. Ditto the rhs of midfield. The shocking start and the performances of team that finished below us last season are likely to have spooked any new in investors.
So basically the failure to take a smallish risk has probably koboshed the sale at anywhere near the amounts previously suggested. Serves MG right.
Lots now depends on getting Ben back for WBA, because Spurs and Chelsea are likely to murder us.

How do you know for certain that the reason we haven’t made substantial signings is because of the impending takeover?

Re: Who am I?
Can’t blame Garlick for our management team banishing our joint record signing from training with us. I’m sure he was thoroughly cheesed off with that and now wonders why he should bother investing when we have made a significant loss on that signing (£5-7m at the very least).summitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:51 pmRe the OP. So
Looks to me like the chairman’s and manager’s relationship is at an all time low and that is now affecting the players on the pitch.
