National Tier 4
Robert Peston on twitter, I would assume he has a good source inside No10.
These are the measures to be announced by the PM at 5, as I understand it. They will last until 2 December. And they are, In effect, a new “Tier 4” that will be imposed for a month initially to the whole of England.
1) All pubs and restaurants to close, though takeaways and deliveries will be permitted.
2) All non-essential retail to close, though supermarkets won't have to follow the Welsh example of fencing off non-essential goods.
3) There will be no mixing of people inside homes, except for childcare and other forms of support.
4) Manufacturing and construction will be encouraged to keep going. 4) Outbound international travel will be banned, except for work.
5) Travel within the UK will be discouraged, except for work.
6) Overnight stays away from home will be allowed only for work purposes
7) Courts, schools, and universities will remain open. 8) Outdoor exercise and recreation will be encouraged.
9) Private prayer will continue in places of worship, but not services.
It all starts at one second past midnight on Thursday. The regulations will be published in Tuesday, and MPs will vote on them on Wednesday. One source told me to consider the regulations as a Tier 4 for the whole of England. After 2 December, the exit strategy is that different parts of the country will then have their local economies and behavior governed by the existing Tiers, namely Tiers 1 to 3, depending on how serious the virus is in these respective places.

Re: National Tier 4
Key questions for me will be what support packages are put in place for people and businesses and are the Govt going utilise the time to get a fully functioning track and trace system in place supported by some very clear rules and guidance for how we come out of lockdown and live alongside this virus
My worry is that even if the govt managed to do the above really well we have too many people who think they know best and wont follow the advice and the rules to make it work anyway

The only big change is restaurants and retail. There's enough holes it it people will use their own 'common sense' to do whatever the F they like.burnley007 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 4:38 pmDoesn't really say much.

But at least it denies them popular places to do that, sad for the people who work in them but it's needed.

Disagree, utter sham. Any journalist worth their salt can consider what questions to ask whilst he’s giving the announcement.

Re: National Tier 4
Agree.
The first lockdown was to save the NHS. Literally hundreds of 1000s of cancelled treatment, operations, screening, cancelled. 10s of thousands dying at home, suicide and depression going through the roof, a cancer time bomb waiting to explode, the NHS isn't saving us.
There are currently no excess deaths compared to the average of the past 10 years
Another lockdown will only exacerbate an already seriously dire situation.

But isn't the fear that some people will struggle to get a hospital bed if we don't take some immediate measures?RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 4:57 pmAgree.

We don't want to hear about people being told they can't go to hospital because it's full.

I've got 3 close family members .
1, terminally I'll lady , 77, should have had a scan to see how much more its spread. Cancelled
2, 52 year old female, should have had a mammogram in June as shes in a high risk group. Cancelled
3, 22 year old male found lump in testicle. No face to face appointment, just a video call after waiting for 5 weeks. Prescribed ointment. Since found second lump.
If they started clapping for the NHS again , sorry I wouldn't join in . And my daughter works for it.
It's no longer the NHS it's the Covid HS.

So you wouldn’t clap for the healthcare workers risking their lives to save other people, healthcare workers who have been hung out to dry due to the massive mishandling of the pandemic by the government.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:10 pmI've got 3 close family members .

The government hasn't been cancelling appointments. Public health Englands role has been p*** poor. Has have the decision making of NHS managers. My daughter will tell you her entire case load was cancelled due to covid and was measured up for PPE to be an extra pair of hands on the ward . The ward that turned out to be empty. The hospital was deserted and the decision to cancel seriously ill patients appointments, treatments and examinations and diagnosis will cost thousands of lives.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:13 pmSo you wouldn’t clap for the healthcare workers risking their lives to save other people, healthcare workers who have been hung out to dry due to the massive mishandling of the pandemic by the government.

Stop the emotional blackmail stuff with the "risking their lives" stuff. My mate is a Male nurse at Blackburn Royal, contracted it and was close to death with it. Thankfully he's partially recovering and back home. His mum in her late 70s, has skin cancer and has had operation cancelled.
I'm sorry, I wouldnt clap for an NHS that we were supposed to be saving, its stopped saving us.
I'm against the government's plans for a 2nd lockdown.

I predict that flu deaths will low, given that those at most risk will be self-isolating and then you add in social-distancing, mask wearing and increased hand hygiene.

Steam powered I believe.
All joking apart , First Minister for Wales, the Labour Party's Mark Drakeford has previously banged on about multi nationals not paying their fair share of tax and the Tories letting them off the hook.
Yet I lost count of Welsh folk coming on the radio, last week, saying they couldn't buy basic household items thanks to the over bearing rules of Welsh Labour and ended up getting what they needed on Amazon! Labour hypocrit, Drakefords played right into their hands.

Key workers like teachers, NHS and supermarket workers are really on the front line while the rest of us work from home. These professions should be paid danger money. Imagine being a teacher and being in daily close contact with hundreds of super seeding children.

In a nutshell I've said
1, the NHS, and Public Health England have made what will turn out to be decisions that will, tragically, cost lives.
2, lockdowns dont work, they simply delay the inevitable and trash the economy that wont be there to pick up the bill for it.
The virus is real. However we know more about it now. We should isolate the vulnerable, learn to live with it using common sense and practical measures we can all do to protect each other. Treat the population like adults. Let the young at least try and make a start at rebooting their already precarious future's and restsrt the economy before it's too late.

Education, particularly secondary schools and unis, are super spreader environments. It’s got to be looked at how we can educate people differently. If there is no viable alternative then keep them open but HAS to be looked at.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 5:46 pmI’m a teacher and I don’t want any danger money.
