Game over so I'll say it now. It is time to rest Dwight. he's lost his mojo and needs time to find it. Adds nothing offensively or defensively this season.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Well done Ben Mee, he excelled
A defeat avoided which was essential
Brighton can be lumped with West Brom, Fulham, Sheff Utd as teams who could keep us up
We will play better once we find some confidence.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
All through the summer it was said by many that we needed pace out wide and strength in centre mid
That's why we don't look likely to score in games

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
A point is better than nothing, and Ben returning and us keeping a clean sheet can't be a coincidence, well done to the defence, however our midfield and forward line desperately needs to improve if we're going to gather enough wins, Brighton weren't great either, and there's every chance they'll be in the mix come next spring.

Better performance but only because we looked more assured at the back with Mee back in there.
Just need to get more creative going forward and start scoring again

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Brighton never looked like scoring second half, but then again we never looked like scoring in EITHER half!
For all our moaning about how rubbish we looked, the Burnley we have known and loved for the past 7 years would probably have played exactly the same, BUT would have (undeservedly!) won that game, but having said that, they DEFINITELY wouldn't have lost it. So overall a positive!

Embarrassing.....we can defend, but we certainly didn’t play any football.
Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Fantastic to have Sir Benjamin of Mee back at the heart of the defence and as skipper.
What a man mountain that lad is.

It's hard to win when you have 6 players doing very little.
Well played the Burnley Back 5.

Toothless from the midfield up to the front line, but welcome back Ben Mee you have been missed
Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Dyche is morphing into Cotterill, we start with a clean sheet and a point let's keep it that way style tactics. I would absolutely hate playing football that way and I suggest the players are also sick of it.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
our substitutions have frequently frustrated me!
Tonight, again, Jay ready to come on at 61/62 mins...actually on at 69mins...why delay??
Brighton player approaches touch line and on after 1 min!

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Main issue is the right side. Not to say the left or central midfielders played well tonight either, but our right side is basically non-existent. Appalling that we made no effort to strengthen that this summer!

Fair enough, but who plays on the left in his absence, this is the problem we don't have any strength in depth if a first teamer is out of form, injured or suspended.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 7:25 pmGame over so I'll say it now. They have probably the tallest centre half in the division and we lump it towards Wood.
Lucky point tonight, perhaps we'll improve now we have our skipper back, but we need to improve tactically.

3 goals in 7 games. Start with Rodriguez and Vydra for a change, then Wood and Barnes later on if necessary....

Absolutely. Pope was great (kicking aside), defence were ok, the rest were dreadful. The worrying thing, or one of the worrying things, for me was the speed and depth of pressing. We got off with that.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 7:33 pmYes. We owe the point to Nick (I'm not challenging Pickford) Pope

We’re not playing to Dwight’s strengths at the moment so he doesn’t deserve criticism for that.
He’s sill a far better option than Brady for me.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
A good point and clean sheet, great to have Mee back.
I feel sorry for Wood and Barnes, even the scraps are scrappy. Our service to them is poor, but I don't think keep playing the same team and tactics and sooner or later it will come right is a good strategy. We can't change the defence, and don't have the depth to change the midfield, so it has to be Wood and or Barnes need swapping.
Wood and Jay, or Wood and Vydra for me.
Ash needs a couple of U23 games, just to find the back of the net and get some confidence.
The only advantage we have on the rest of the dross around us, is our ability to keep a clean sheet, as long as we stay tight at the back we have a chance.

Garlick. Is he ashamed but his lust for the money overcomes this? Or what? Apart from 3 players we are a shell of last seasons team

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
My observations for what they are worth. Passion, willingness to take one for the team, putting their bodies on the line was back to the Burnley of old. Going forward though we offered nothing. We look a team frightened to lose at the minute rather than happy to take a risk to win, combine that with out most creative player being shut out every week, and not being in great form too, we are struggling to offer any threat. I think Barnes will have started his last game for a while, J Rod surely has to come back in now, as does JBG for me.The only real positive I'm taking is we will pick up results, we always will the way we fight, and other teams around us know that, and whilst we're not adrift not playing well, we're far from down..UTC.

Big Dyche fan, but that’s enough for me.......realize that he’s limited with players, but WHAT WAS THAT? Wet tissue paper in midfield and attack ( and right full back).

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Well he can't play on both sides so Brady has ro play on one of them.
It would help if he actually didn't keep drifting into the middle and adding to an already congested mess. If he'd been playing well and felt it was the only way he could come for the ball I would forgive him but Taylor did more offensively than Dwight

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
Just got back from the Underground bar in Benalmadena, after watching that performance. Awful, are we the only team in England who play without a midfield? Our tactics are so predictable and one-dimensional, pass it around at the back for a vey short while, then whack it aimlessly forward in the general direction of Wood. How Barnes gets on the pitch before Jayrod is beyond me. Let's be honest, Brighton played much better football than we did and could easily have won. Very frustrating times at the moment.

Re: Brighton versus MIGHTY CLARETS
I just don’t know what we were trying to achieve tonight - it certainly didn’t look like we were trying to win the game.
No energy, no pace, no movement, no creativity and no goal threat. McNeil is a pale shadow of the player he was last season and Brownhill might as well not have been on the pitch.
Yes there was some decent last ditch defending, but Brighton still had more than enough chances to Win the game and if they’d been any good they’d have murdered us.
A point gained after a dire performance, but an opportunity missed against a side who looked very vulnerable if we could have put them under any pressure at all
