It confirmed that there’s ‘bids’ not a bid, not a preferred bid but bids.
As Tony mentioned, it confirms a ‘takeover’
It highlights the infighting

Sadly, I suspect a resolution isn't imminent.

It would be an interesting idea, to entirely hypothetically surmise which board members were sat in which camp, and why they’re sat there....

With the club actually attempting to communicate to fans and acknowledging negotiations taking place, do you think that a possible deal is close/imminent?

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Fair play to tarks he will be the first to get a big contract from the wealthy owners. He's played it perfectly.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Can we then finally get Wilson as part of the deal, or is he at Cardiff for the full 12 months.

Dyche never wanted Wilson
He knew Tarks was leaving and wanted Jones, Jones injury out pay to that. So he said no to Tarks leaving and when the board tries to push it through he went in the offensive against Garlick.

I wasn’t expecting a statement at all, so had nothing to expect but that wasn’t the point of my post.bfcmik wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 2:45 pmWhat were you expecting? A statement that detailed the state of the negotiations? A deal is not done until it is signed off, as long as negotiations are still ongoing there is always a chance it may fall through.
I doubt even the statement acknowledging the eventual sale will say much either. All we will have to dissect are the public statements by the new owners - which will be positive yet bland, forecast a bright future with lofty aims but without any detail of how that may happen.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I was told another director didn’t like it when the One Barry Kilby chant went up in Athens, probably jealous. He was brought up a Claret and will always be a Claret. He was in a position where he could do more to help the club back in the late 90s but in so many ways he’s just like us, a fan, which is why he understands us and why we understand him.MACCA wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:56 pmThere's a reason "1 Barry Kilby" echoed around the Valley and in Athens.
Mr Kilby is Burnley through and through.
Who knows what it says about the fans views of a man who has, in some fans eyes given us the best 5 years in half century.
Their reputations couldnt be more further apart amongst a fair chunk of the hardcore Burnley faithful.

The fact that he still lives locally and interacts with fans daily keeps him fully connected to the fans, and us to him.
A truely great man, there certainly is only 1 Barry Kilby!

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I went to the same school as Barry Kilbys son albeit a few years younger , I missed the bus to the playing fields to go and play a midweek match due to going back for my boots and shin pads which I’d left in the class!
As i was stood there looking for a bus which seemingly wasn’t there anymore , Barry Kilburn pulled alongside me after dropping his son off and asked if I wanted a lift up , it was a 5-10 minute drive, I jumped in the Jag and immediately told him I was a claret , we talked football and he was a real gent - he even stayed and watched the first half of our game before returning to collect his son from school! To my elation I actually scored a penalty before he left and shouted over to him! Made my day!
I met him again briefly in a similar encounter and I was amazed that he remembered me but it speaks volumes of the man - the final time I met with him accidentally again was in Checcos restaurant in Great Harwood just after we won the playoff final, where it looked like a massive weight had been lifted off his shoulders, again we spoke and he was a gent!
Will always be a massive part of Burnley football club

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
You're pretty much accurate on that one. The whole squad is very aware of what's going on. Tarkowski hasn't ruled out signing a new contract but he knows his future career, as others; depend on what happens to a degree. Investment on and off the field which meets his expectations and he signs a new deal. The other party wins and he knows where he stands.
As expressed above. It's pretty obvious which members of the board are on which side of the fence regards investment and which way they want the club to proceed. One thing is for certain. They need to make a decision soon as it really should have been sorted out a good while ago.
Can only echo others comments on Mr Kilby. Always found him a lovely man with time for anyone.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Danielj, BenW (and others), don't keep us in suspense. Why are the board divided? Why can't it get sorted by a majority vote of the directors, or a vote of shareholders? If it's a vote of directors and the directors are split equally, half for and half against, doesn't the Chairman have the casting vote? If it's put to a vote of shareholders, doesn't MG start off with almost half the votes - so that it would take every other shareholder voting against MG to defeat him?
What I'm saying is that I don't think that the time being taken to agree a sale of the club to anyone is being held up by division between the directors. Agreeing all the details of a deal with a prospective buyer is more likely what's taking the time.

You can pluck two names out of the list who differ totally from the rest of the board to start off with and then differ in what they want between themselves. Holt (never liked him personally) and Flood. Then we can add in Covid and the interested parties.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 5:09 pmDanielj, BenW (and others), don't keep us in suspense. There's a whole raft of reasons why the deal is taking so long which we are not privy to. A divided board (and it has been for some time) doesn't help.
I would, however; expect it to have a conclusion in the near, rather than far; future.

Wouldn't bank on it. These things always drag on, especially if there is more than one interested party. Just look at the Newcastle situation.

I’d suggest there’s one favoured bid, and that once negotiations with the Premier League are sorted things will move rather quickly.

I am sure you're an intelligent person. Everyone is in their own way. Which is what makes life tapestry so special. Regards to my comment. You will be aware of Flood and Holt surely? I hope so otherwise this will be a long night
Suffice to say. Flood will be on the investors bid side that suits him best. Holt will be on the Holt side regardless. It's all about Holt for him.
The rest will be torn. Though Kilby and JB for me would probably favour the same deal.
That should be cleared up though soon and to be honest the board needs a clean sweep from a new broom because it's got stagnant and poisonous.

There's been a clash on ideas over how the club moves forward for some time. It's not new news though. As I mentioned. Two names alone with two totally different visions.

I know what you're getting at. I am referring to the 'collective' really. There isn't a majority consensus on the way forward when the majority would like what's best, yet there's several differing ideas on what that should be.
