Tarkowski versus Keane

Post by IanMcL » Sun Nov 22, 2020 1:52 pm

Keane is an England squad regular and we sold him for £25m+

Tarkowski can't get a sniff of an England call up.
We value him at well over £30m and up to £50m.

So which the better player? Whose name would you pencil in first, if you were England manager?

My vote goes to...

James Tarkowski...by a street!

I think it comes down to consistency.

Keane is quicker, more athletic and a bigger threat from set pieces. That is why he is preferred for England.

Keane plays in a top six team
I don't want Tarks to go but Everton need to ditch Jerry Mina and sign Tarks
Mina is the weak link in an otherwise good side

Keane was excellent for Everton today, especially in the 2nd half when Fulham were applying the pressure. I'd put him ahead of Tarky right now.

BTW we'll do well to get £50m for Tarks now he's entering the last 18 months of his contract, if anyone offers £35-40m in the next window, or even the summer we'll have no choice but to cash in, he's made it perfectly clear he won't sign a new contract, and we can't afford for him to walk away for nothing.

Not sure how you can compare them to be honest, two totally different type of players. Keane had a couple of difficult spells at Everton, one because of injury. He’s playing well now though and I’d suspect his value is now considerably higher than it was three and a half years ago when we sold him.

How longs left on his contract? We’ll struggle to get 20 million now after his interview last week.

Keane edges it for me.

Tarkowski's value has already peaked.

Ben Mee.

A better centre half than both.

He’s not as good a footballer but is a better defender than both.

Yup. Mee automatically improves whoever is playing alongside him.

Not even sure why it's a debate, we already know Keane is garbage, a well respected poster on here has repeated as such many times

In my opinion Keane probably just edges it and will develop further now he's finally got a proper manager in at Everton.

The way we play it’s really difficult to say one way or other.

Everton have conceded 4 more goals than us already this season but I’d wager that we’ve been put under far more pressure than they have.

He’s definitely not, fantastic defender but he’s never going to be sold for 30m in a million years

Keane.

I like Tarks, but Keane is just better.

Out of the three defenders mentioned, the one I’d be gutted to lose would be Ben Mee. When I say gutted, I actually mean it... I think I’d be physically sick.

Keane looks a lot better now. He was poor when he first went to Everton. Don't think he was comfortable with the system Koeman played. That said, I think Tarks is a better defender.

Keane is more mobile and just edges it for me. Will be interesting to see how Tarks gets on without the protection of our "framework".
