Quiz Question
I rarely ask quiz questions so please do not Google this and test your historical footballing knowledge.
I have just been looking at an old programme of England v Northern Ireland in a British Championship match at Wembley on Tuesday 16th May 1978.
Without cheating can anybody name me
A) The only Burnley player named in the 42 players of both squads that night
B) The only player (and his club) who was not playing for an English club team.
Impossible.

Re: Quiz Question
I bet it’s a third choice NI ‘keeper who played for Ballymena or someone.

It was Brian Johnston of Cliftonville and he wore the number 21 shirt.

Re: Quiz Question
Don't think Billy signed for QPR until later in '78 he would still have been at Linfield in May.

Re: Quiz Question
We tried to sign Woodcock on loan in 1976 but we missed out by a couple of hours because he’s signed for Doncaster. We got Malcolm Smith instead.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 6:31 pmWas at that game, Ty

Re: Quiz Question
Saw Woodcock a couple of times at Cologne. As with Keegan the improvement after he moved to Germany was astronomical.

Re: Quiz Question
They were looking to sell him and had Malcolm Smith not scored all those goals on loan then we’d have signed Woodcock for the same price.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:07 pmCould say the same about almost any of the team that won the league then European cup not long after.
