We may as well have this thread locked until there's any concrete news. It doesn't sound like anything is going to happen soon.

There is a link (possibly somewhere on this thread) to Matthew Moulding talking about that sponsorship back then and I'm fairly sure he stated both himself and his business partner are Burnley fans.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 11:02 amHis company did sponsor the club - it was in the 2008/09 promotion season when we had Hut.com on our shorts. But that doesn't mean he's a Burnley fan any more than when Euro Print sponsored at Ewood despite the owner of the company being a claret. To be honest, I don't know whether he's a Burnley fan or not.

No. I think it is more implying that such a deal takes time.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
I think most people understand that. It's been a long time already. You have intimated previously it looked likely last week and there has been a delay. People are wondering who or what the reason for that is. Is there a specific reason? I don't expect you to disclose it if you know.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 4:59 pmNo. I think it is more implying that such a deal takes time.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
If it is anything like our transfer dealings, we’ll be waiting till we can interview all the directors to put an amusing video up on Clarets Player with he announcement.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 3:03 pmI certainly said there had been a delay and that post was in response to DJW. I did think the deal was going to go through last week. It didn't, as we all know, and I'm not expecting anything imminently. Whatever the reason, and I can't detail it, it is not likely to be a show stopper from what I understand but I don't think we should be holding our breath.
Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Is it too much to hope that any delay, going into what is a crucial transfer window, might see some agreement on a budget for Dyche, between the incoming and outgoing owners?

You'd like to think that whatever happens or doesn't happen with the proposed takeover, someone somewhere has a plan to spend a little cash in January, because if they haven't we're buggered. You'd imagine that fact would be concentrating those minds at the heart of this thing to sort out these apparent hiccups rather than keep messing about.

Do you know/suspect who Tony?
Not asking you to divulge, just wondering if names are being touted.
Does make you wonder why, if money is available for signings in January under the existing ownership, why there was none available in summer.

The track record on “people in the know “ on this forum both in terms of transfer incomings and Board takeovers is perhaps not one to rely on
It does make entertaining reading however

Of course, I’m meaning more that any budget won’t be impacted by delays, by way of some sort of agreement, if indeed that would be plausibly.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:10 pmThe owners of the club will determine any budget I would think.

Phil Jones would be an excellent signing, so I really do hope we can pull that one off.
He’s probably still good enough to get in United’s starting eleven with they way they’re defending this season.

I agree re Jones - I think he’s under-rated. I was going to say my reservation was his age, but I’ve just checked and he was born the same year as Tarko. Can’t believe he’s still only 28!

Well played Sir. You've just bought yourself a one month extension of pretending you are ITK.
Of course in true DJW style I will be prepared to apologise should I be proven to be wrong
FWIW I reckon Jones would be a decent signing assuming the wages aren't ridiculous and he can stay fit (enough to step in for Ben Mee if / when required).

It’s a reasonable punt if you want to buy some credibility. It’s one that’s already been on the papers and would appear to make sense for all concerned.Goobs wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:14 amWell played Sir. You've just bought yourself a one month extension of pretending you are ITK.

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
Burnley defenders are renowned for last minute blocks because of the way we play - that's Phil Jones in a nutshell. His injury record is terrible though which would be a huge concern.
He's far from a clown in terms of ability

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
If Dyche's main issue with Garlick is his refusal to spend money, perhaps him still being around with the Americans cash available to Dyche wouldn't be the worst thing and might result in a more seamless transition.
It seems an odd state of affairs, it's been imminent now for at least 2-3 weeks and everything seems to imply it's basically done/agreed. Perhaps the issue is the ODT or some other sort of official FA process that still has to be completed, but the deal itself between ALK/Garlick IS all agreed?

First time posting on this long running saga, which I am confident will complete
in the fullness of time.
For what it's worth, I reckon the money is there to spend but they won't announce completion
until after the January window has firmly shut to avoid clubs inflating the price of players over
and above the normal inflation of prices that are normally demanded in January.
Similarly, it will avoid players and their horrible agents demanding exorbitant fees and salaries.
That's my take on things for what it's worth.
It's a canny game they're playing.

Why would we sign Jones .Hes a crock and has the speed and turning ability of a tortoise
Also we have Jimmy Dunne and Longy as well as U23 defenders all keen to make a mark
Lingard I would sign because I believe Sean could get him back to his best again .Possibly look at a loan with option to buy
