Sendings off under Dyche
I was amazed to hear the commentators say that u der Arteta’s tenure (12 months-ish ?) Arsenal have had 7 red cards.
Can someone confirm how many we’ve had in 8 years under Dyche as I’m sure it’s not that many.
In fact I could only think of 5 (Duff v West Ham, Hendrick at Watford, Barnes at Everton and at Swansea, Brady at Huddersfield. Have I missed any?
(I didn’t remember Barnes at Swansea but my 9
Year old seems sure)

Re: Sendings off under Dyche
Did Duff get one at Huddersfield - 2 yellows?
Re: Sendings off under Dyche
That was ridiculous. It didn’t hit his hand. It was outside the area. He got sent off. They got a penalty!

Re: Sendings off under Dyche
It was a clear penalty for handball apart from the fact that he was yards outside of the penalty box and it went nowhere near his hand.

I was going to say the Huddersfield and Olympiacos ones.
Two of the refs that have most upset me in the 30 years I have been following Burnley.

Also at Huddersfield, Tierney not giving us the pen infuriated me. The only person in the ground not to see it.

Same here with those two.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 10:56 pmI was going to say the Huddersfield and Olympiacos ones.

The only other decisions that peeved me as much were (off the top of my head):
The failure to send of the PNE guy who handled on the line circa 2008
Wolves at home circa 2001
Diving b@stard marcus olsson
Offside fatty dunn
Not that I keep a massive mental list of all the grievances that have occurred since I was born.

The Preston Guy, was the Patron Saint Of Own Goals, old Lord Slabberchops himself, Sean St Ledger. Didn't that lad think he was better than he was? Him and the Goalkeeper - Lonergan - a right pair of egos, with ideas way above their ability.
Re: Sendings off under Dyche
This was the Duff red card and penalty for hand ball

Re: Sendings off under Dyche
Yes it was.... 2007..... first few minutes bottled the handball, then gave a straight red to McCann and Joey Gudlonsson in the 2nd half. Preston, who were bottom, won 3-2.
Re: Sendings off under Dyche
Either way, it wasn't a penalty or a yellow as you said further up the threadClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 11:13 pmHe didn't get a red for that, he got a yellow and then got a second yellow for bringing someone down later in the game.

Didn't Darren Ferguson say something really effing stupid about Lonergan once, overstating his ability?dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 11:08 pmThe Preston Guy, was the Patron Saint Of Own Goals, old Lord Slabberchops himself, Sean St Ledger. £20m goalkeeper wasn’t it? They did similar years before with David Lucas. Both of them were mainly shite.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 11:53 pmDidn't Darren Ferguson say something really effing stupid about Lonergan once, overstating his ability?

Re: Sendings off under Dyche
Didn’t Trippier get sent off at Leeds when Charlie Austin scored for us but Andros Townsend won it for them? A Christmas/ new year fixture?

Thanks for your help !
There was a few I had forgotten, I guess I’ll was only recalling PL sendings off.
Looks like only 4 and we’re in our 6th season.

I always thought that the Preston handball was Tyrone Mears.
The McCann sending off was ridiculous, he was hacked twice in the build up to his lunge and both were let go.

Our discipline is there for all to see...fantastic and comes right from the man in charge and his standards.
Even when the likes of Lineker has one of his sarcastic swipes like he did regarding Westwood’s fall last week there is essentially a lot of jealousy around how little old Burnley keep defying the odds and their exemplary discipline whilst doing so...

Think the ref at Leeds was Browne. He sang along with their anthem before starting the second half. Trips was booked twice within mins for not a lot.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 8:36 amNo - at Leeds under Howe and at home against Charlton under Dyche

He was tapping his feet and singing along to Marching on Together. Mark Brown it was who I think was from Hull.summitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 9:04 amThink the ref at Leeds was Browne. Someone on this thread mentioned Townsend winning it for them. He played and some would say Lee Grant won it for them but those two late goals were Jay Rod og and Ross McCormack.

We are the time you would expect would get the most reds. Both from a perception perspective and also from the fact that most teams have more skill and pace than us.
I suppose that discipline is exactly why we have stayed up. Its hard enough with 11!

Re: McCann. You're correct about what led up to it, but it was a wild challenge by McCann born out of his frustration at the tackles that had been flying in.
