Today's Football 20-12-20
Brighton vs Sheffield United
Spurs vs Leicester
Man U vs Weeds
WBA vs Villa
Sky Sports creaming themselves over the Man U game. I bet most Man U fans don't give a crap about their opposition, they see Liverpool and City as their rivals, yet it's all Leeds fans have thought about since they came up.

No great feelings on the other 2 games, however Liverpool will be happy because one or both of their potential title rivals will be dropping points.
Yep it's Leeds cup final, given how both United's have defended this term, you might need an abacus to count the goals.
Don't forget it's also Scottish Cup Final day, that's the 2020 final in this strangest of years.

Brighton are 1 point ahead of us, so a draw best, for me.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 11:43 amWins for Brighton & Villa would be most welcome.

Also want Man U to win.
Villa win yep.
Not fussed about the Spurs game.
Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
A Brighton win would be my least favourable outcome. Keep them in the sh*t. Sheff U still have a mountain to climb.

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
I'd rather see a draw in the Brighton/Blades game, that would keep the Seagulls in the mix at the bottom.
Yes, Leeds fans working themselves into a lather at the prospect of playing Manyoo.

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
Brighton v Sheffield Utd, I’d prefer a draw. Keeps Brighton well in the scrap, and doesn’t allow Sheffield to build any momentum
Usually I don’t like Man Utd doing well, but on this rare occasion, I’d like to see a thumping win

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
Brighton draw, otherwise a Sheffield win. Certainly not a Brighton win.
United win with Phillips and Klich yellow carded please.
Then a Villa win. And I don’t say that often!

Never thought i'd say this come on Brighton put another nail in Sheffield Utd coffin we want them to really struggle it will make us staying up so much easier if they get hopelessly cut adrift,i dont think West Brom & Fulham have the squads to stay up so there you have it the three relegation places....simples

A 0-0 will still make them miles behind, with Brighton not pulling clear.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 12:16 pmNever thought i'd say this come on Brighton put another nail in Sheffield Utd coffin we want them to really struggle it will make us staying up so much easier if they get hopelessly cut adrift,i dont think West Brom & Fulham have the squads to stay up so there you have it the three relegation places....simples

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
I'd prefer a draw in the BHA v Blades game. I think both of these will be our competitors in the bottom half. 2 points between them is betetr than 3 points between them.
If there's 3 points for one of them, Id prefer Sheff U.
Spuds v Leicester, not competitors of ours but, like a fair few others, have Kane & Son in my Fantasy Footy team so lots of goals for Spuds would be good.
Man U v Leeds: I'm not fond of either but would prefer a home win with Leeds conceding a few.
WBA v Villa: away win or draw with Grealish sent off for diving would be good,

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
Does that mean he'll miss the game on the 29th?, if so all the better for us he ripped us apart at their place last year.
Daft challenge to make, and he was always risking a red card, especially with VAR these days.
0-0 at the break, neither of these look any great shakes, and if we can start scoring goals we've every chance of finishing above both come the end of the season.
Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
I was just about to say it's a yellow all day long but, having looked at the law, was it excessive force?
"Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned. Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and/or endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off."
There isn't that much between them in terms of the definitions but I assume refs are given examples to aid interpretation. It felt like a yellow to me but hard to argue that it wasn't excessive force. Who would be a ref?

Unfortunately, as we all know, it depends which team you play for whether that's a yellow or red.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 12:41 pmI've seen worse challenges than that only get a yellow
For me it is a red due to the "excessive force" ruling but, as you say, it would be a yellow on another day.

There may be a few younger Dirty Leeds fans from the Sky generation foaming at the mouth with the prospect of the Man U game but for older fans the Leeds Liverpool game is always the biggest

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
10 years ago you might have got away with that type of tackle, but not with the rules these days, anytime you go flying in like he did you're always taking a gamble, and once the ref went to the monitor you knew what was coming. Yes he got the ball, but it's the follow through that's presumably deemed as either dangerous play or excessive force, silly foul to commit when Sheff Utd were actually doing ok for most of that half, they just seem to have pressed the self-destruct button this season, and they continue to make rash decisions.Duffer_ wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 12:53 pmI was just about to say it's a yellow all day long but, having looked at the law, was it excessive force?

Re: Today's Football 20-12-20
They probably can, but in all honesty I can't see why they'd bother, I can't see why any panel would overturn the ref's decision in this instance.

Going back to Sky Sports creaming themselves over the Man Utd v Leeds ‘rivalry’ - there are no rivalries in football anymore. The fans have the rivalry, today’s players are all BFFs xoxoxo’s.

Sheff Utd win probably the best result, followed by a draw. If Sheff Utd catch us from this position then to be frank we’ve not done enough to stay up.

If Brighton lose this game it will be a really big blow for them, especially given the man advantage they've enjoyed since the 40th minute.

Aaron Connolly somehow misses an open goal from 5 yards out, sums up Brighton's season.
