With no disrespect but what has Jay offered?
Jay hasn't been great but he's still offered us far more than Barnes has. The assist for the winner against Palace for one.

My thinking is to get safe and then try something different. We know what it takes to keep us up - we just know it.
Come on, Frank, you know better than that by now surely. Try something different? Not a chance in hell.

No denying that the Barnes/ Wood axis was successful in keeping us up 2 years ago. But it was very unsuccessful in the first part of last season. Barnes was carrying an injury and was dire. We massively improved when Rodriguez came in and we started to play a bit.

We'll see what this evening brings in terms of a result. We know what it will bring in terms of the football.

Totally agree that 2 keepers on the bench is daft UNLESS Pope isn't 100%, but otherwise a youngster there would have made far more sense.
I've no idea about this but are the different squads still in bubbles? is it possible that Vydra has reported ill or injured and we'd no one else?

Barnes for Rodriguez could be a good, subtle move. A battering ram for 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of Jay’s more subtle skills to kill off the game.

There's one poster who created a thread about how good Wood and Barnes were. And bumped it up after most games.

My point being - they know how to play together.

We always go long when those two are playing together
We go long regardless of who we play - just think Barnes deserves some credit for something more than his aerial ability - which isn’t actually what he’s good at

Your hope is correct he's among their subs.

Nuno has rung the changes, which is rare for him.

A dull day here in SW Ontario, 2 degrees and overcast, no snow in the forecast. Looks like the whole Province is going into lockdown on Dec 24th, could be a long winter

As far as todays game is concerned, I have a good feeling about the outcome, 2-1 Clarets.

Only days since Lowton was referred to as the new target. Whatever this new target is, it appears to be a moving one.

Dyche spoke very highly of Barnes & Vydra last week and said both were getting close to starts (although I'm not sure I'd agree with that bit).

If he has dropped out late in the day it might be we couldn't get one of the young players into the squad because of restrictions and time limits etc.

Wood and Barnes. Neither firing and I fear makes us very one dimensional in style. Not confident here, but COYC!

Sorry, only just seen this. Vydra injured and Jay subbed.

Direct to Wood and Barnes - we know how good they are together.

You aren’t allowed to say anything negative about a footballers performance on here anymore it’s gone absolutely bizarre.

Not sure there are targets, more just people giving a view on what they see. Be a bit boring if everyone agreed on everything.

Jay Rod hasn’t done anything since he came in. It’s clearly not worked in an attacking sense.

Barnes has been pretty dreadful since he returned from injury but he’s probably not been as sharp as he could be. Maybe the manager thinks he is now.

I’ve called changes like this before as not being right and Dyche ends up proving me wrong time after time so instead I’ll go with it and back the change.

Shame Vydra isn’t available. Come on Burnley.

Surprised Barnes is starting but let's hope he and Wood have a good game.
And our wide men too.
We need a good performance today from all the team
and hopefully a win too.

Was just thinking the same thing. If Barnes has only just come back in and nobody has mentioned him for a bit, how can he be a new "target"? Because of a few posts on this thread?

As you say, bizarre.

Two keepers again? Why? Why not give a place on the bench to a youngster? Thompson got on at City and with Vydra missing it would have been a natural replacement. Dyche does himself no favours at times.
Nine (9) subs. So, looks like we are covering the risk of Nick Pope getting a bump early in the game.

Pathetic from Dyche tonight.

Why spend money on an Academy and put two keepers on the bench? Even if you have no intention of playing the kid, two keepers is a **** take.

Wolves will play 5 across the middle, we will go over them and need someone to hold the ball up and win free-kicks - only Barnes can do that for us tbh, that's why he is in tonight

Vydra will be injured. Dyche has chosen Barnes and Wood because Wolves like to play 5 at the back. I understand why he's done it. I completely disagree with it mind...

Awful awful side we’ve got out though best not to dwell on it, as we can only play the hand we’re dealt. It’s obvious why he’s chosen Barnes with their packed out defence and hope has to spring eternal

I'm optimistic as well, IDK if it's just the situation, or the time of the year that's making folks downbeat, but there does appear to be a lot of glass half empty posters tonight.

3 points would be a big fillip, so let's hope the Clarets can deliver them. :)
