Was surprised how poor he was last night when he came on.

I think you mean to say "How good Charlie Taylor was in dealing with him"

We defended deep against him and doubled up Taylor and McNeil/Pieters when he had the ball. Negates his pace when he only has a very short space to try and outrun the defender and his only option is to go outside to the bye line. Play a higher line and allow more space behind the defence for him to run into and he is far more effective.

Good player and an absolute beast, but Charlie was outstanding against him yesterday.

He beat a man and put in a good cross almost immediately after coming on, and I thought "uh-oh". But I thought we got to grips with him really well after that. He's very dangerous, but he doesn't know how to bring in free men around him when you double up. If he had more awareness he'd be a hell of a player.

What was encouraging was that we seemed to have a plan for when he came on-we dont normally appear that organised, but it worked. I was surprised with their main striker out that he did not get played down the middle. Charlie did a great job on him

Defended him very cleverly. Taylor showed him the line and McNeill, then Pieters blocked the inside. Perfect defending and after 5-10 minutes he'd almost given up attempting to take them on, at which point the game was won because they didn't carry another threat. I thought the way our players backed up each other all over the park was an absolute joy to watch last night.

Not sure he should be allowed to oil his arms to stop him being held. I’d ask be the ref to send him off for a shower

I saw a fantastic tweet which summed him up perfectly.

If Adama Traore was any good at football he’d be a fantastic footballer.

An incredible lack of game intelligence just looking to dribble and dribble and dribble until he hit the byline and then cross. Always wants the ball to feet, rarely runs beyond the ball, never surprises with an early cross, never takes his man to the byline then rolls it back to the full back after creating the space ....... basically just does the same thing again and again and again.

Part of that is how we dealt with him. But a lot of it is down to him.

Hes a very good player. Having an off game against us doesn't all of a sudden make him a bad player. Like having a great one off game wouldnt make him a great player.

He's been a crucial player for wolves and is now featuring for spain.

He is quick, direct, strong and creates a lot of space and panic at the back. Would love a player like that.

I’m surprised that Wolves don’t play him on the left more often. Not sure whether Lowts would have the speed or physical strength to have coped with him.

I think last season he ran us ragged and looked threatening every time he got the ball but clearly the coaching team learnt from that game and apart from his first cross Taylor, McNeil and Pieters dealt with him well.

Learnt the lesson from letting Saint Maximin run riot against us at SJP, a similar type of player to Traoré. Magnificent marking job last night.

As said he could be a brilliant player and would be ridiculous for us with our strikers in the box. If we had him I wouldn’t mind bringing crouch and vokes back!

I think it was said the “oil” is Vaseline which stops players getting hands on him when he inevitably sprints past...

he misses Jimenez, he can't put early balls into the box with him out. No doubt we dealt with him well but he had nothing to hit in the area at all

I've read the articles where he claims he does no weight lifting.
Going from this at Barca to his build now though isn't just genetics or natural though weight gain etc.

Wolves miss Jimenez full stop, but any team will miss a player of that class, and to add to their woes they let Jota go to Liverpool in the summer, since Jimenez's enforced absence Wolves have lost 3 out of 4, and in these games they've looked toothless up front, just goes to show that every team needs their key players fit and available.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dip into the market next month, they can't continue as they are just now, if they aren't careful their lack of goals could see them in a relegation scrap, yes they've got a comfortable buffer right now, but another month of poor results, and the bottom clubs will be making up the ground very quickly.

That stat doesn't surprise me as much as I thought it might, he's barely been mentioned this season, and he's only played 760 minutes out of a possible 1260, so obviously Nuno feels he's not contributing as much as he did last season, he's not even making the impact from the bench against tiring defences that you'd expect of him.

Adam Traore has made 117 PL appearances and scored 5 goals and has 12 assists.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson has made 100 PL appearances and scored 7 goals and has 12 assists.
Dwight McNeil has made 73 PL appearances and scored 5 goals and has 12 assists,
Robbie Brady has made 71 PL appearances and scored 4 with 7 assists.
Ashley Westwood 110 PL appearances and scored 5 goals with 15 assists.

Yes, Traore is fast, however, as you can see from the figures above,we have four players who, for one reason or another, have not played the number of matches that Traore has but whose records playing for us compare very favourably. Sadly, some are often malighned by our own fans.

No, no Frank! It''s the referee who isn't good enough ---the manager says so. Mind you, wouldn't it be great if Lee Mason could have replied and said exactly that! :D

Maybe he is having a quiet season because all the teams have worked out how to stop him. Teams are doubling up on Dwight now so he isn't as influential on the wing as he was. At least Dwight goes looking for the ball and changes position. He just seems to stick to the wing.

A victim of media hype. Had a purple patch last season and was talked about like he was a world beater.

As the stats further up the tread show, he has been less effective overall in his career than several of our players who go about their business under the radar.

First of all a superb performance today. Can somebody please explain to me how this guy stayed on the pitch today? It is almost as if that Cork has to go down pathetically holding his face in order for the right call to be made there. What was the VAR officials thinking?

We played him very well, two close to him and pushed him down the line from where he could hit it against Taylor or put it into Row Z.

Because of his pace, you have an unexplainable, unjustified fear that this might be his one game in 30 he uses his physique to its capabilities.

However, just as the case was for the likes of Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer and plenty of other pace merchants we’ve feared over the years through the leagues - they’re invariably actually pretty ****.

Compare Traore's end product today with Dwight's, and that's why Dwight got 2 assists and Traore didn't, there was a couple of occasions in the 2nd half which summed up Traore's afternoon, he had 2 chances to put balls into the box, and on both those occasions he overhit the cross and it went out of play., whereas Dwight's delivery was bang on the money today.
