Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
Immediate/Medium Term objectives:
Support Sean Dyche THIS January and the summer with real investment (nothing ridiculous, but the squad needs money spending on it). Particularly with first eleven ready recruits in the wing and right back position within the next 8 months.
Improve fan experience by not simply seeing us as walking bank notes, but by respecting our time, communicating with us and enticing us with interesting ticket schemes, corporate hospitality arrangements and infrastructure.
Overseas scouting and player recruitment policy re-organisation. The lack of purchases from overseas has invariably impacted on the ability for us to improve the squad at a price we can afford, this requires wholesale restructuring. If that means heads need to be culled/replaced from what is currently in place then do it. We don't know the full story here however, so I won't judge the likes of Mike Rigg unfairly.
Long Term:
Cricket Field Stand redevelopment - this stand is a relic of a bygone age that we have repeatedly tarted up with small spends rather than get around to doing what must be done and giving it either a full overhaul, or knocking it down and starting again. We don't need additional capacity in there, we need a modern facility that isn't an embarrassment, that potentially gives additional revenue streams (no, not the breadbin!) via more corporate space and that gives the players the type of dressing room facility they deserve.

Invest enough in players regularly so we can play some half attractive football while staying in the Premier League. It would be nice to be entertained a bit, been starved of that for too long. That would do me.

If I were the owner of any Club, I would want as large an audience as possible.
Many of you want us to be a regular top 10 club but don’t want to increase our grounds capacity. Do you really think attendances if 20,000 can sustain that position?
Some of you might even prefer to remain ‘little old’ Burnley in the Championship rather than becoming a larger, established Premier League Club?

Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
I just want us ro be able to financially compete with our fellow, similarly sized Premier league clubs in terms of player wages. We have lost out on players recently because of our wage ceiling.
Also they must never, EVER use the word soccer.

We never got 50,000 when we were one of the best clubs in the country except for F.A. Cup matches.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 10:10 amIf I were the owner of any Club, I would want as large an audience as possible.

Our historical average for crowds has been similar to what it is now.

I hope we never go down the route WBA have just done and get rid of the manager if things are not going so well after a few matches.

I don't think we need a massive amount of investment to go one step further, we saw that when we finished 7th. I expect Tarky to go sooner rather than later and we need his replacement in the building as soon as possible. We clearly need another right winger. I don't think we need any more recruitment than that in the January window unless someone else leaves.
What would be nice though is a new Glenn Little or David Eyres on the right wing, a player who can get you off your seat in anticipation when he gets the ball. Someone who can improve the first XI.
My ambition would be to become the new Southampton. 22 out of 29 seasons in the Premier League and they've sold on loads of players to the big clubs for top money. Some decent cup runs too.

To stay in the EPL. And stay at Turf Moor, even if it gets called ALK Moor.

Like most I would like to see a little more attractive football but not at the expense of our Premier league status.
Top priority over the next few weeks would be to sign Tarkowski up for another 3 years or find his replacement. Another priority this window is a quality attacking central midfielder
Going to be interesting to see what happens at the club over the next 12-24 months and, the changes that are made on and off the pitch

Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
We got where we are with baby steps, everything built on rock, not sand.
I hope we continue in that vein, trying to do too much at once would leave little for the future, and if it failed would lead to the obvious consequences. Fortunately it sounds as though they will back Sean, but keep that slowly, slowly catchee monkey mode that has served us so well.
It's now up to SD and team, to show us that he can use the funds wisely when they get them.
We are on the verge of becoming an established Premier League team, for that to continue and too threaten and succeed in the occasional sojourn into Europe, would be a tremendous success.

Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
When people say surviving in the Premier League, I don't think anyone is suggesting that finishing 17th every season. I think it's more down to not wanted to unsettle it by betting the ranch and losing everything the team has built over the last 5 seasons.jrgbfc wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 9:42 amSurely we can aim for a bit more than finishing 17th every year, which seems to be what some people are suggesting?
I don't think being a solid mid table side, whilst having a good go at the cups and gradually bringing the age of our squad down is unrealistic.

If Andrea Agnelli and the European Clubs Association get their way, we ould not be in the Europa League, we would be in the Europa Conference, winning that would see us in the Europa League - winning the Premier League would not change that - so winning the Europa League in 2026/27 would see us finally get into the Champions League for the first timeMT03ALG wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:04 pmGradual improvement year on year:

Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
If you want to know how Juventus financed their regeneration and growth it started with a move to a significantly smaller stadium with masses of corporate facilities and forced fans to by season tickets at much higher cost as it became impossible to buy tickets for the occasional match of their choice - put simply the previous oversupply of tickets was eradicated and revenues shot up. Both Milan and Rome clubs have been desperately trying to do the same thing since.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 10:10 amIf I were the owner of any Club, I would want as large an audience as possible.

On that basis perhaps Manchester United should have moved to a revamped Gigg Lane offering only Corporate match seating!!!Chester Perry wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 1:27 pmIf you want to know how Juventus financed their regeneration and growth it started with a move to a significantly smaller stadium with masses of corporate facilities and forced fans to by season tickets at much higher cost as it became impossible to buy tickets for the occasional match of their choice - put simply the previous oversupply of tickets was eradicated and revenues shot up. Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
Another realistic ambition: employ someone who understands music, both pop and classical, in order to enhance the atmosphere at Turf Moor especially in the build up to kick-off. Initially I hated the Proclaimers 'I'm Gonna Be' before the game but I actually missed it when they stopped playing it before the game. However, there is so much classical music which could also be used to build an atmosphere. In addition please sort out the SOUND SYSTEM at the Turf and erect another big screen which can be seen from the James Hargreaves' Stand i.e. on top of the corner stand next to the club shop.

What would you do to the sound system - ok it’s the loudest in the PL but we’ll need that when we get more fans in.
Why has no one mentioned improvements to the catering - a far more important area

One thing that won’t work is what they did at Wrigley field when I was there some years ago...
Order beer from your seat from chap at the end of the row
Pass ID and cash from your seat one by one to the end of the row
Get Beer, ID and change back to your seat one by one down the row
If this was implemented at the turf...
The cash would not reach the end of the row
The ID may have been pocketed for future use
The beer would not get back to the seat
As for the change well..no chance
Very bizarre experience that won’t catch on at t’turf.

It would be great to have a good cup run, but let's not forget that since the Premier league began only 3 clubs outside the so called top 6 have won it. The top clubs take it seriously once they realise the league is slipping away.

Firstly, it's not possible to put one there but in any case I'm more than happy not being able to see one from my seat (when I do eventually get to sit there again). I go on to watch the football, not look at a big screen.

the screen thing is an interesting one, a bigger screen or more of them and they could potentially charge more for advertising on them. Big screens are huge over here in most sports

Re: Realistic ambitions under ALK
True but no-one's suggesting that we necessarily win a cup, fantastic though that would be, just to give it a shot and maybe reach a semi-final or even hopefully a final would provide a huge lift to the club and the town, even in the past 10 years the likes of Portsmouth, Stoke, Wigan, Hull, Palace & Watford have reached the final, and you wouldn't say any of those are any bigger than Burnley, now clearly I'm not saying we should sacrifice PL status for the sake of a Wembley appearance, but with decent investment there should be no reason why we can't cement our place at the top table, while also taking both domestic cups seriously for a change, of course it would help if we stopped drawing Man City.

Invest in top talent from lower leagues (yes I still believe this model serves us well...there are Bowens, Tarkowskis and Watkins still out there) and heavily invested in our academy.

I don't think Investment companies operate on a cash in bank basis.
Any monies will be reinvested in order to make more money, hopefully.
They make money by increasing the value of the assets, so hopefully better, more valuable players.
It's a whole new rollercoaster for Burnley F.C.
