When I say confirmed, it came up as a Sky alert on my phone. I'm just checking it out before getting anything on the site.

According to Gary Lineker
"Burnley against Fulham has been called off. Surely they can just put that one down as a goalless draw and move on."

For the FA cup the FA are saying they have to play the games if they have 14 fit players.

If it's true, what are people's thoughts?
On the plus side, it gives McNeil, Taylor, Vydra, Cork and JBG more time to recover.

I'd be surprised if he tweeted it, without knowing for sure. It's likely, he's just been informed before others have announced it.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 11:47 amAccording to Gary Lineker

Especially if the Fulham players have been out with Kyle Walker.
Agree about recovery time for our players, but I'd be interested to know how many Fulham players are out of action

At least one of their players seems to have been mixing with players from another club New Years Eve even after having a previous game called off.
Staggering if true.

If it's off, it's should go down as a forfeit and award us 3 points. Teams are just gonna keep letting their players do what they like if there isn't a punishment.

This season has the potential to become a real mess now if games continue to get called off at this rate.

They should have to forfeit and we get the points. With all the restrictions and procedures in place it’s not acceptable that they can’t make a squad of 14 players. And if their players have breeched the rules then they should be punished. Let’s hope when the game does get relayed some of us are there to see it.

Not a hope in hell us being awarded any win, but this could easily be manufactured for future games to favour a team with players out injured.

I'd have fancied us to grind out another 1 nil win tomorrow. If it turns out that City and Fulham players have been out partying then there needs to be serious punishments dished out.

Fulham need to be held responsible for the actions of their employees, which have led to them failing to fulfill a contractual obligation to the EPL, the Broadcasters, their sponsors and their opponents .....DuckworthsEA wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 11:54 amThey should have to forfeit and we get the points. Totally agree.
How can a professional club not be able to muster 14 players to fulfill a fixture even it means having to play their reserves, is that not what reserves are for?

Nonsense tbf, just because someone tests positive it doesn’t mean they’ve not followed guidelines. Not to mention the guidelines are rubbish too, no meeting others but you can cram 500 kids into one school, makes sense Boris.DuckworthsEA wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 11:54 amThey should have to forfeit and we get the points. Schools should be the first place closed given the size and little toddlers don’t even know what social distancing means. We can’t social distance inside an open roof football stadium but you can cram into shops.
You could enter pubs and restaurants but only until 10pm was one of my personal favourites, like COVID only appears after 10pm. The whole thing is rubbish and has been handled so poorly from the very top.

Re: Fulham game off
In fairness to Fulham, the party rumours are just that. And most of the players with Covid will be asymptomatic enough that they could have played, but the rules state that they can't. If our players had done nothing wrong, but Mee, Pope, Tarks, and 3 or 4 others were all out with Covid, I'm sure we would want the game postponing too...Vintage Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 12:02 pmTotally agree.

There is absolutely no way we should just get the three points.
Re: Fulham game off
I can’t help feeling, that the reason Fulham had a training session this morning, was to enable them to get the game postponed if they had a positive test!

The PL have hit the post on this. Rugby League said if you can't play the game, you lose 22-0. Maybe if the PL had said something similar, clubs would have been more vigilant on player movements.

Re: Fulham game off
To be fair I would think that in years gone by there would have been far more postponements at this stage not from Covid but from unfit pitches. However the powers that be need to keep a sharp lookout for bogus positive Covid tests when a team simply fancy a rest not to mention an investigation into certain players alleged irresponsible behaviour if applicable with penalties if necessary.
I dont like the idea of awarding games to the opposition though, I for one would scream blue murder if other teams at the same level as Burnley were handed freebies in matches they would probably lose
The FA/PL need to be totally transparent in their decisions on postponements to ensure fair play to all especially those clubs and players who have done as they have been asked......I am not holding my breath though.
Has there been any official disclosure over the Everton/City game yet as requested by Everton?

Lineker may be on your pr1ck list but he is not on THE pr1ck list. That is reserved for people who are unanimously voted on by all sane people and currently, to my knowledge, includes Tim Sherwood and Robert Jones.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 12:24 pmThat's why he's on the prick list, I'm sure he believes he's funny. Regardless of how they've contracted Covid, innocently or otherwise, imo Fulham should be made to play the fixture with the players/reserves available or forfeit.
I'm sure we would want the game postponed in the circumstances you mention, especially as the precedent has now been set.

If the allegations of the party are true, (and all other such cases), perhaps the broadcasters should take action against the players concerned. They can afford it.
Re: Fulham game off
I presume that Man city have had to play tomorow because they simply didn't have further positive tests, but Fulham have.
