Three times now.
Ref clearly always dreamed of being a player... Just did a nice little dribble

Newcastle doing pretty well today. Look good defensively and with Wilson up front they might just catch Leicester on the break.

I fancy the referee to bag the first goal.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
Pathetic penalty appeal from Wilson there.
Tough game for the Magpies now they'll have to chase the game, and that should play into Leicester's hands.
Maddison is truly back to his best now.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
Should be game over, big win for the Foxes leaves them just a point off the top, they shouldn't be discounted from the title race by any means.
Newcastle are struggling and the pressure will only grow on Steve Bruce. Unless they seriously buck their ideas up they will be looking over their shoulder.

You'd expect Newcastle will be trying to put high balls in the box

Brendan Rodgers has done a quietly fantastic job at Leicester to turn them from "one time flukey winners" to a consistently solid side that can never be ruled out of a top four finish.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
Absolutely and they haven't spent fortunes either. most of their transfer funds have been generated by selling, Maguire last summer, and Chilwell this summer.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:17 pmBrendan Rodgers has done a quietly fantastic job at Leicester to turn them from "one time flukey winners" to a consistently solid side that can never be ruled out of a top four finish.
And their recruitment has been top class, Justin and Maddison were both bought from the Championship at reasonable money in today's game, and both have adapted to PL life like a duck to water.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
This is imo the correct way to run a club. I detest clubs who go out and just throw millions upon millions at players like it's nothing. Like you say, the players they've brought in, such as Fofana were from the sale of Chilwell.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:17 pmBrendan Rodgers has done a quietly fantastic job at Leicester to turn them from "one time flukey winners" to a consistently solid side that can never be ruled out of a top four finish.
We can hopefully spend more money now, but I'd never want us to be a club who just spend for the sake of it.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
We could do a lot worse than follow the Leicester template, they produce from their academy, plus nabbing the best prospects from the Championship and Europe, and when they cash in they reinvest in their squad wisely, it's one thing having the funds, it's another thing entirely spending them in a sensible way.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:29 pmThis is imo the correct way to run a club. I haven't got the stats to hand, but I'd wager Leicester's and Newcastle's net spend over the past few seasons isn't that far apart, however Rodgers has got his team playing stylish attractive winning football, whereas both Benitez and now Bruce are attempting a defensive strategy in the main, I can see the Geordie faithful rapidly losing patience with Bruce if results don't drastically improve, and the defeat to Brentford in the League Cup can't have helped his cause.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
Two teams I like to watch are Leicester and Man City (when they play quickly). Both teams play great transition football through a quick thinking midfield to the forwards. As soon as players like Kdb and Maddison are get the ball they are off at pace running at the defence with team mates moving off the ball also at pace. A joy to watch.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
Nope! he hasn't they're still shipping far too many goals, and until he solves that they'll not be genuine title contenders.
Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
He might not get a chance to sort it.
I would imagine that Abramovic would’ve expected more considering the vast sums they spent in the summer.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
I've not seen defending as poor as that at Sunday League level
Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
I’m hoping Citeh get more than 5 and Chelsea get 0, just to make the typical score against us seem more normal.

From a Chelsea free kick, City quick break and have 4 players in the box within seconds. That's what pace does for you.

Re: Today’s footie 3/01/21
He'd be right to expect more with their summer spending spree, I think they spent the most of anybody in the PL, and at this rate Chelsea will be struggling to finish in the top 4, surely the axe will fall on Lampard if that looks likely, a club such as Chelsea expects CL footy at the very least.
