Big Sam wants a circuit breaker!

Post by LordBob » Wed Dec 30, 2020 3:59 pm

I can't say I'm surprised he wants a temporary shut down but I don't think a 32 way distribution board would help him a great deal.

If he wants the circuit breaker it’s more likely to enable him to rally his troops, he’s only been in the job 2 weeks. And he’s just realising the size of the job he’s taken on!

He will no doubt want the season abandoned with no relegation. Every trick in the book has BFS

There was a long and detailed thread with some good discussion on this earlier today but it's disappeared for some reason.

I wonder if he'd have been so vocal on this subject had WBA won 5-0??

In fairness he’s 66 with previous heart problems he’d be a prime candidate with a bad dose, I don’t blame him for being cautious.

True, it’s a question I can’t answer you’d have to ask him, it seems abit daft in the current climate unnecessarily exposing yourself when you are relatively high risk.

Whilst I don't think there is any sincerity whatsoever in Allardyce's suggestion of a 'circuit breaker', he is perfectly entitled to take on a job and expect safe working conditions.

Having witnessed what Leeds did to them last night he won't want to take on an improving Arsenal this weekend with the same set of players

Their next league game after that is against Wolves on the 16th - that would buy him the time to bring in the players he has obviously targeted and get them set-up how he wants them

That being said, regardless of his motives, the PL do need to be confident that they can provide a safe working environment for everyone involved if they intend to continue without a break

Maybe he should wear his mask correctly, rather than round his chin then as he did against Liverpool. Typical BFS opportunitism.

No idea, like I’ve already said I don’t blame the bloke for putting his health first but like another poster rightly pointed out why did he take the job the virus was in existence prior to accepting the WBA managerial position, I can see both sides of the argument.

I like Sam he always comes across as genuine I feel I could trust him in a tight spot, I don’t see how they’ll benefit for a temporary pause he’ll be looking to bring reinforcements in in the window so you would have thought it’d be more preferable to bed them in sooner than later.

Of course he wants a long break. With the games coming thick and fast, he hasn’t got the time to implement the” BFS style of play”. With nearly half of games played, they’re at risk of being cut adrift, what better excuse to hide behind a break for COVID. The comment about “ I’m 66 yrs old and the last thing I want, is to catch COVID”. OK, fair enough, don’t take a job that requires you to mix with other people on a daily basis. In fact, don’t take a job at all. Do what the majority of 66 yr olds have been doing during the pandemic- STAY AT HOME!! Arrogant t****er.

West Brom's next 4 games are Arsenal, Wolves, West Ham and City, now if they don't get a couple of wins in that lot, they're staring down the barrel, I'm not surprised Sam wants a break, but it seems he's a lone voice ATM, of course that could change depending how severe the situation becomes, but as it stands there is no apparent sign of the PL halting anytime soon, the lower leagues might be a different kettle of fish.

BFS has actually been very clever here, because instead of talking about his sides drubbing by Leeds, the media are discussing his comments, fair credit to him he's succeeded in taking the heat of his players anyway.

If Allardyce is worried, he should stay at home. Just like everyone else who perceives they are high risk. Then let everyone else get on with working.

It's hardly a surprise a manager of a team currently in the bottom 3 would want the season paused or even scrubbed altogether.

Didn't we have similar arguments last season by the likes of Watford and others.

Surely there wouldn't be an ulterior motive for those teams to have the campaign declared null and void would there.

I do have some sympathy given Sam's age, and previous health issues, but in the worst case scenario he could still manage his team from home, other managers have had to do this in recent weeks, and they appear to have coped fine with it.

If football wants to continue then get their house in order and control these players who are allegedly breaching the guidelines, there doesn't appear to be any comeuppance for their reckless behaviour. And for some they've apparently breached the rules on numerous occasions, I'm afraid until they feel the consequences of their actions, then they'll continue to flout the guidelines which the rest of us are abiding too despite the difficulties that may cause.

Big Sam is already unhappy with the new Brexit transfer rules, saying he's found players who would sign but can't

I don't think he's gonna be able to buy his way out of this one like he normally does with cheap foreign lads.

Let's see how good he really is now.

I'm guessing it was part of the deal for him signing

Absolute joke - worried about Covid because of his age !!

Roy at Palace is old enough to be Allardyce’s dad and he seems ok with it !!

BFS has simply realised the job he has on his hands. Probably hit him when he saw that his forward option off the bench was an overweight bleach blond bricklayer who is 3 stone overweight and looks like he has been on a 4 day bender.

I’ve always liked West Brom tbh but cannot stand BFS. Even if they go down he’ll be making be plenty of money out of a short tenure - and when they do sign players he’ll no doubt make a bit “extra” too....or one of his sons will or his dog....

There’s a 7 year age gap between Roy hodgson & Sam allardyce, I’m not sure how many 7yr old dads are out there but I don’t know anybody at that tender age I hadn’t even reached puberty myself.

Like the get out - for seriously underestimating somebody’s age, Sam does have less grey hair & acts young for 66 so perhaps understandable.

Maybe next on your very long list of skills development requirements will be the ability to understand sarcasm.
Believe it or not I didn’t’ actually think Roy Hodgson was the age of Queen Elizabeth.

Anyway it’s been good to know that you had not even reached puberty when you were 7....that was very insightful. Was that about the same time you took an unhealthy penchant for public hangings ?
