The very first autograph I got was Colin Bell after I met him buying a newspaper in Ramsbottom.

He was a really nice guy. I know his son Jonothan who works at the Christie and when we played City in 2009-3-3 draw after being 2-0 up my son and i went as guests of Colin. Very sad news this as he was only 74-young these days

Did both Colins play for Bury early in their careers? Their restaurant was on the main road out of Bury at Whitefield. I wondered if thats where they first met and became friends and business partners.

Sad to hear this. Funnily enough it was only a couple of days ago I was watching the Big Match Revisited and thought it was a while since I heard anything of him. My dad and uncle used to see him to chat to regularly in the 70’s when they worked in Belthorn.

Another sad loss. Good player was Colin Bell, it was a privilege to see him play in the flesh on many ocassions back in the 70s. That's when they made proper players. R.I.P. Colin.

RIP Colin Bell.
A terrific player for Man City and England. Never met him but I hear he was modest and unassuming. As a few above, I recall many times passing the Bell/Waldron restaurant when bussing to Manchester on a a Ribble service.

I lived just south of Manchester second half 1969 and watched City quite a lot with Pardoe, Book, Doyle, Sumerbee, Lee, Bell etc, they were very good to watch for a neutral and pretty successful (as now again), CB a huge part of that.

I saw Bell score 2 at Wembley in 1974. I was living in Leicester at the time and a team I played for then organised an outing to an England v Czech game. Pretty sure Dobson and Thomas (as a sub) played in that game too. Frankie Wortho also played, much to the delight of my Leicester colleagues at that time.

I think the comparison (made above) to De Bruyne is fair; both with great engines, good range of passing, reading the game very well and just "getting on with it" and not having much to do with the theatrics and histrionics.

Always used to look out for the ‘Bell • Waldron’ cafe at Whitefield, near Bury, when travelling to Manchester away matches. I think both Colin’s started together at Bury.

Here is a true story about Colin Bell that happen just a couple of years ago and it might just make you think twice before making stupid comments in future.
A neighbour of mine who was a season ticket holder and lifelong City supporter had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He had told me on a few occasions that his all time favourite City player was Colin Bell. Just a couple of weeks before he died someone contacted Man City to see if it would be possible that Colin Bell could send him a message. 48 hours later Colin Bell had driven over to Burnley and spent a couple of hours in his home reminiscing on football stories.
