A good read.
Totally agree that Wood did not foul Keogh.
Benson looks much more comfortable in cm. I can see something in Glennon and Joel.
Relieved that JBG and Cork appear to be unscathed.

Big question for me is whether we’d have got the pen had we not scored. Keogh clearly grabbing Mumbongo which probably ended in our favour.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 2:56 pmA good read.

Doubt it...we don’t get those....if we are defending, however, they get given against us it seems.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:06 pmBig question for me is whether we’d have got the pen had we not scored. Keogh clearly grabbing Mumbongo which probably ended in our favour.
There’s an argument for Barnes getting a pen but, likewise, we never get the onfield decision. Similar to the Leeds pen for me that is given and can’t be reversed. Barnes never helped himself by not claiming though I’m not sure that ever works anyway. Much less likely to give it though with the Barnes type non reaction.

I don't think the Barnes one was a pen but the foul on Mumbongo by Keogh is very definitely a pen that VAR surely would have had to give had we not scored.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:04 pmDoubt it...we don’t get those....if we are defending, however, they get given against us it seems.

CT, you need to refer to Brownhill and Westwood as midfielders rather than defenders!

Looking at the subs bench I would hazard a guess that Peacock-Farrell, Dunne and Long are isolating and that is why Tarks and maybe Mee played. And it is possible Brownhill and Westy are also isolating, otherwise they might have been expected to be subs at least.
Likely a pretty weakened team against United?

Couldn’t watch the game in America but during the week I did try to contact our new Chairman to suggest that he should invite CT to the game yesterday. Sadly I failed in my mission and probably he would not have been allowed to invite CT anyway. But it would have been a great way to introduce himself to this board and a super piece of pr. 60 years is an awful long time ! For clarity this is not a complaint against Mr Pace in any way whatsoever.

Apparently Mr Pace was not at the match, as per https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/content/a-new-dawn
About half way down "I am sadly unable to take my seat at Turf Moor today for the very first time as club chairman"

I’ve also seen penalties given this season similiar to the handball Keogh caused when he blocked Wood’s shot in the first half.

And I’d have turned down any such offer. We are in the middle of a pandemic and we are in lockdown. It would be wrong, totally irresponsible to even consider going.FCBurnley wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 6:29 pmCouldn’t watch the game in America but during the week I did try to contact our new Chairman to suggest that he should invite CT to the game yesterday. What about playing? The way are players going down with injuries and covid, maybe you might fancy your chances coming off the benchClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 8:04 pmAnd I’d have turned down any such offer. Re: REPORT: Clarets on the spot to book fourth round place
Good report as ever CT, this weekend has been when the lack of fans has really been felt, FA Cup 3rd round day is a great occasion for fans of the minnows in particular, and in the case of Chorley and Marine who knows when or if they'll reach this stage again.
As for BFC after that scare both during the 90 minutes, and also in the shoot out, dare I venture our name might be on the cup this year.
