Celtic on trip to Dubai
Celtic have taken their players on a warm weather trip to Dubai, having been allowed to delay their game against Hibs to accommodate this trip. I cant decide who is showing the least gumption, Celtic themselves, or the Authorities for accomodating them.
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
Might not be allowed back in....
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
They need it, they're 19 points behind the leaders in a 2 horse race!
Hopefully Lennon doesn't get potted any time soon.

Such a strange thing to do at the moment, I can’t imagine their huge fan base will be over the moon with it and I’m sure the club knew this. I guess it sums modern football up and why so many have lost the love for the gameClaretincraven wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 6:49 pmCeltic have taken their players on a warm weather trip to Dubai, having been allowed to delay their game against Hibs to accommodate this trip. Poor decision all round, with today’s announcement looks even worse.Claretincraven wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 6:49 pmCeltic have taken their players on a warm weather trip to Dubai, having been allowed to delay their game against Hibs to accommodate this trip. Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
After the weekend I thought they'd have been sent to Coventry never mind Dubai
On a serious note they are incurring the wrath of the SGhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55535738
And if Scottish football doesn't get it's house in order quickly, then I can see the season being suspended or even annulled all together.
And even without all the other reasons for not travelling, why would you bother going all the way to Dubai for a training camp that'll only last a few days. If it was a regular season with the usual winter break then I could see the sense, but not when you're in the midst of a heated league campaign.

Because some people only care about themselves during this whole thing. IN fact most.

Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
In Dubai? I'd treat that picture with a great deal of salt, however the point is they shouldn't even be there, and that's why they are getting pelters in the media. If the rest of the Scottish teams including Rangers can manage to stay and train at home, then why can' they.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:56 pmThere was a picture going round of them all chugging beers around the pool.
Apparently Celtic's argument is that this trip was organised a long while ago, maybe but everybody else has to adapt to the changing situation, so why not them.

Would be so funny if the whole septic team get hit with quarantine measures and have to forfeit a couple of games as a result.
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
After the Fulham cancellation clarets would have been candidates for warm weather training.
I am sure it would have been floated and then rightly discounted.

What's even more bizarre is why they were allowed to move the Hibs game, by all accounts Hibs are fuming, and I don't blame them.Right_winger wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:40 pmWould be so funny if the whole septic team get hit with quarantine measures and have to forfeit a couple of games as a result.
I don't know what the recent measures are in Scotland, but I suspect elite sport is exempt, however I think that was only brought in if teams were playing abroad, that would naturally class as essential travel, I'm not convinced that a training camp passes that test, and Celtic are pushing the boundaries in that respect.

Not sure any resort deserves those scrubbers turning up and polluting the area let alone Dubai.

I retract my earlier comments Quicken, it appears you're correct with this fact, funny that they should feel the need to partake in alcohol on a supposed training camp.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:56 pmThere was a picture going round of them all chugging beers around the pool.
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
Can you believe this, just read on BBC website Man City allowed 4 players from the womens team to go to Dubai and all 4 returned with COVID and are now self isolating only read this minuets ago.

Celtic got a fixture date change and the approval of the SPFL for this trip - without asking the opposition if it was ok - they are livid

I have an affinity for Celtic due to family connections, but this is pretty much unforgivable. What on earth were they thinking?

I’d love a holiday I must admit, I’m a warm weather person and hate winter. I’m hoping I get one at some point this year, or we get a belting summer in the UK.
I’d not go anywhere at the moment though, it just doesn’t feel right and I’m the type of person that worries too much about what others are thinking.

I'm a warm weather person as well and I do have three holidays booked this year:-Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:46 amI’d love a holiday I must admit, I’m a warm weather person and hate winter. I’m hoping I get one at some point this year, or we get a belting summer in the UK.

March: Majorca. Perhaps a bit too early but it's booked just in case.
May: Florida. Virgin have some great deals on flights to Orlando right now. Hopeful this will be possible unless that Biden has other ideas about Brits visiting. (Don't trust that guy, something sinister about him)
June: Paris. Load the car up and drive down, using the ferry of course

this isn't good, but hardly a surprise in the circumstances.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55611659
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
In the current climate you have to ask the question, why did they feel the need to go abroad. I've read all their reports about keeping in their buble, eating as a group away from others etc but I really do have to question the thinking of the club in allowing this, it beggars belief.
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
They're footballers Beddie, apparently they can do as they please.
Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
I don't understand the fuss! It's work... Loads of my mates are working in Dubai from a laptop at the moment and I'm gutted I couldn't be there, due to my work/family schedule but I wouldn't feel guilty in the slightest if I was there, to be honest.

Fair play to the Scottish FA for standing strong and making them play.

With respect that is why we are where we are. This football trip and your approach is a reflection of where individuals are not seeing their action as part of a bigger picture. What if we all thought that?
Sorry if that's a bit harsh, I've got a good friend really ill with Cv19 and I've hit boiling point.

I've just finished a Facebook messenger chat with a friend who has totally lost the plot. He says the vaccines don't work - well he says there's an 0.8% success rate - which I know to be false. And I'm still not convinced that he believes Covid is real.Awayfromburnley wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 2:09 pmWith respect that is why we are where we are. I'm a firm believer that 80% of this country are thick. And this pandemic has proved it.

I work in a shop on a Sunday and a family of 5 came in.
The kids ran around the shop like loonies and their parents made no effort to control them and when it was pointed out that social distancing is in effect etc, they didn't seem arsed.

A family of 5!
I have not left the house with my family apart from the odd walk in summer . I would not dream of going to a shop with them. Just crazy
That said if I was a football chairman I wouldn't let my team go away either.
I think Scottish football will pause indefinitely. Then a legal issue over the end of the season and who wins/or if it just gets wiped.....

Re: Celtic on trip to Dubai
Celtic 1 Hibs 1 yet more points spilled by Celtic, their hopes of retaining the title are between slim and none now.
Rangers boast a 21 point lead, and Celtic only have 3 games in hand now, and on present form you wouldn't bank of them winning all those fixtures.
I'll be surprised if Lennon is managing them next season.
