Re: Vydra
They asked to loan, Burnley would prefer permanently if he’s to go from what I’ve seen, so not nailed on. As we know Vydra is unhappy with game time.

Re: Vydra
If he goes then we HAVE to be bringing in another striker bearing in mind how out of form both Barnes and Wood are and their need to be taken out of the firing line....
A case of one out and one in perhaps?

Re: Vydra
If Dyche doesn’t rate him (and I think it’s fairly clear he doesn’t), then it’s best for all parties he goes this window.
We absolutely need a centre forward in to replace him, and not some Nahki Wells style clear backup/pointless signing but someone to really put pressure on Wood and Barnes.

What do we expect. Euros coming up, Dyche would literally rather play a donkey (which he is doing at the moment) than give Vydra a fair crack of the whip.

It’s always a shame when good footballers and good characters leave our club, and Vydra is both.
I hope his next move works out for him and wish him all the best.

It’ll be a shame if he does go, without him being given a good run in the team for a prolonged spell. A bit of a go and prove yourself approach, giving him the comfort of knowing that he wouldn’t be hooked the next game, might just have worked wonders for him.
He’s obviously a decent player and I don’t think he’s been given a fair crack of the whip, for whatever reason.
Without being given a fair run, he needs to move on for the sake of his career and further international aspirations.
As mentioned, if he is to leave, we must get someone that’s different to what we have and ready to really push for a place.
Welcome to Burnley Troy!

I think Vydra is a fantastic player at the right club and Union could be that club. Can’t be bothered checking but think they’re doing well this season. Plus it’s near home for him. Could be a good move.

He deserves more game time here, but it's better for him and his mental state if he gets a move.
I know Dyche has blocked several moves for him in the past, hopefully we get a decent fee for him.

Yep, just let the lad go. Even he does get a start, everyone knows it won't take much for him to be dropped again. Best for him if he finds a route out now and goes to enjoy his football somewhere.

Re: Vydra
If as seems the case Dyche doesn't rate Vydra
then he has to let him go but get someone in who he does rate.
Be ironic if he did let him go and he starts banging them in for his new club.
Either let him go or give him a few starts.

Re: Vydra
Been a useful part of squad, but his goal conversion (other than in non PL games) is woeful. How many chances since lockdown. Josh King for me-strong quick and versatile, can lead the line or play as a wide striker and takes some knocking off the ball. Ideal for way we play. Him and Jay (fully fit), would be a handful. I am certain King will go this window. We need to move quickly

Re: Vydra
I think Dyche will struggle if he brings his own man in (i'm assuming Vydra wasn't his idea - you wouldn't talk someone into moving to your club and treat them like this would you?)... Barnes was his, so too is Wood. How does he leave one on the bench? Hasn't managed it so far, even when it's been blatantly obvious that one or both have needed (deserved) it at various times.
I'll be happy for Vydra if he gets a decent move, he has absolutely no chance here, and that's a real shame because from what we have seen, he deserves better than what he's had. Brings something different to the team, but obviously we don't want it. So if we don't want different, what exactly DO we want? Wonder who fits the bill in the replacement stakes?
If we want better than what we have, it'll be £25m+.... either we spend that, or we look at players from league one/championship with a hope of development.
Ill be honest, if thats where we will be looking, i'd sooner see Mumbongo being given some time before we have to spend.
I'm really disappointed with how things have worked out for Vydra. I actually feel quite bad for him and i feel a tad embarrassed about how he's been under utilised.

we need someone much better than we have, we need proper pace, Vydra clearly isn't terms of pace but his movement is good

That suggests that Dyche’s treatment of Vydra is because he wasn’t his choice of player.bobinho wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 7:31 pmI think Dyche will struggle if he brings his own man in (i'm assuming Vydra wasn't his idea - you wouldn't talk someone into moving to your club and treat them like this would you?)... If that were true there’s a whole host of criticisms that could be laid at Dyche’s door from pettiness and stubbornness, through to putting what might be best for the team, second.
I’m not suggesting it’s true but such behaviour could be a catalyst for failing relations with a Chairman.

Re: Vydra
Donkeys most certainly not, horribly out of form definitely, and if we're hoping one or both recapture their previous form we're taking a huge risk with our PL status, if Vydra does go then we'd better have a replacement waiting in the wings, because unless we start scoring goals soon it could be a long 2nd half to our season.Goodclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:43 pmCalling Barnes and Wood "Donkeys" is absolutely, bloody amazing!!!! Best of luck to Matej, if or more likely when he moves on, unlike Gibson he's never rocked the boat in public, and whenever he's been called upon he's always given 100%, sadly he's never going to win over SD so it's best for all parties if he moves on to pastures new.
If we get Josh King in then that'll be a great capture, but given our previous forward buys I wouldn't be too hopeful.

Re: Vydra
Vydra is a Championship striker at best, his only decent goal scoring seasons are there. We are not the only ones to think so, he couldn't get Premier league starts for Watford or West Brom either. His conversion rate, as stated previously, is poor. Including Watford and West Brom he has made 65 Prem appearances, mostly as a sub, and has scored 6 times. This season he has scored for us against Sheffield Utd and Millwall in the league cup and MK Dons. He is 28 not a developing young player. When he has played in the Premier league as a sub he has not made the case for significant improvement in the minutes he does get. Time to end the fantasy he is the answer up front. If we can get a decent price for him we should.

Mmmm... None of us really know do we, so we speculate on here. I'm definitely suggesting it's possible. He DOES have a stubborn streak tho... i think we have all seen that.DCWat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 7:42 pmThat suggests that Dyche’s treatment of Vydra is because he wasn’t his choice of player.

What REALLY irks me in all this though, is those that are blindly backing the managers choice to not use him when they can surely see that he brings a new dynamic to the team when he plays. Sure he's no Messi or Bebeto, but he's more of a handful for opposing defenders than Wood, and his pace gives them something else to think about. You ask a defender at ANY level what he fears the most.... But he's the manager and can't possibly be getting anything wrong can he? Wonder how many saying this were saying "why doesn't he move Mee to centre half and bring Wardy in at left back?" and we all know how that turned out don't we? My point being here that sometimes even us fans can see whats happening on the pitch and can see where improvements can be made.
For the record, i'm a massive SD fan despite what i have written, and there isn't another manager anywhere i would swap him for. But lets be honest, he ain't perfect...
