Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I would argue the complete opposite. Nearly every single club in the world is operating at substantial losses due to Covid. Look at derby for example they are literally 4 weeks away from administration, they are crying out for someone to sign there players.steve1264b wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 2:18 pmThere isn't a football club in the country going to sell a player to us in the middle of the window unless we pay silly money.
Even if we have a deal in place, the selling club will either be bigger than us so can hold on to see what happens with injuries or if someone else will pay more. Clubs smaller will also hold on hoping someone else will panic and pay more at the end of the window.
Lets say West Ham agreed to buy Tarky for value x, i would be very disappointed if we hadn't rung every major club in europe to see if we could up the price or improve the payment terms and i would keep West Ham hanging on hoping to sweeten the deal.
Also why would pace come out and say that finances are there for things to move more quickly if we were just going to follow the old methods of signing players in last couple of days. By the time they get bedded in it will be early March.

Not exactly Piercy. Players we have been linked with, we might as well have kept the old owners in place if there the type of players we are looking at.
I also find it strange that Pace said we would move quicker in this window when all the signs are pointing towards the opposite.

I don’t get annoyed with anyone on here there is no point you are all faceless, as far as I am aware I don’t know any of you. It does make me laugh though when posters get themselves worked up over stuff like this.

He said as much last window, he was sick of people criticising his suggestions without offering anything constructive themselves, it's easy to mock, isn't it? He spent a lot of time on his lists & I know that a few of us who follow European football rather than just English matches kept an eye out for his choices & could always engage in a debate about their attributes without rancour. Sad if he now feels unwilling to post.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:44 pmI think a few were a bit unfair on him on here and I’m not surprised that we’ve not seen anything from him given the way folk acted.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I know the window isn't over yet but so far it's been thoroughly disappointing given the initial optimism. It now looks like its the same as under garlick which is embarrassing and alarming at the same time. We desperately need some signings. RB, RM and ST should Vydra leave which looks likely given recent news. You could also argue we need a CH although we might get away with that until the summer. IF we don't sign anyone of note this month then it makes the summer window the biggest one since Cotterill took over imo where we hardly had any playersNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:12 pmNixon on Twitter when asked about signing Jason Knight:

Dyche says when all players are fit we are a decent team....Not expecting much this window......again.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Kenny and Knight would be a good January window. Both will be available for reasonable prices and wages. I just wish they'd sort it out.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:12 pmNixon on Twitter when asked about signing Jason Knight:

Just to show how easy it is to screw up in the transfer market, Islam Slimani has left Leicester City after 4 and a half seasons on a free transfer to Lyon.
He made 15 EPL starts and scored 8 goals, a couple against us if I remember rightly. Slimani cost £29 million in 2016 after banging in 48 goals in 61 games for Sporting Lisbon. Leicester also spent £25m the year after on Iheanacho he hasn't quite hit EPL double figures in goals yet .

I trawled through random names on AIscout earlier and some of the videos uploaded were pretty bad
I’m guessing there will be an app where scouts can log on and check out the scores obtained and they will syphon through the best scorers and go from there

It's probably best we just give up and not sign anyone then. Everything is too risky.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:40 pmJust to show how easy it is to screw up in the transfer market, Islam Slimani has left Leicester City after 4 and a half seasons on a free transfer to Lyon.

They probably thought nobody would be gullible enough to believe that a young Irish footballer’s brother who was also his agent just so happened to be a big fan of the main rivals of the club his brother played for in the East Midlands

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Why have you such a downer on Dyche?, he's delivered success we could only dream off over the past 8 years, and yet you seem to assume that his shoes will be easy to fill, if it's so easy to appoint a manager how come so many owners make the wrong appointments time after time.Right_winger wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:40 pmIt’s almost like Dyche is the problem regarding signings.

He is stubborn I agree, but he's kept us in this league for 5 straight seasons, which could well become 6, and he's overseen 6 out of the last 7 seasons in the top division, which could well become 7 out of 8, what exactly do you expect him to achieve, and if we attempt a more open brand of football there's a much higher risk of relegation, so he plays the percentages.
And who is this next manager who'll actually improve us?, a name or two would be nice.

Quite attacking. But for every couple of steps he takes up the pitch it seems he always has to take one to the side.

To those who play football manager. Our bidding process for players must be the same as when you offer such a low fee for a player the recipient club immediately refuses to even negotiate. Then in a few days time you get a chance to bid again, by which time you're lucky the player hasn't signed for another club already.
Hopefully if we still can't put deals over the line because we're penny pinching too much again the new board will address it and sack the idiot(s) who have been responsible for our negotiations and several failed signings over the past few windows. I can only assume the same incompetence was applied to Jeff Hendricks proposed deal.
I don't know who it is that handles it, but I hope they get booted before it costs us our place in the league.
