What's Been Your Treat of the Day

Post by Rowls » Mon Jan 18, 2021 2:50 pm

Treat of the Day.

We all need one. It's especially helpful during lockdown.

Speciality beer. Watching a film. Bar of chocolate. A different exercise regime.

Today my Treat of the Day is walking to Hapton.

What's yours?

I made some Raisin Bread on Saturday and had a couple of slices today, toasted with butter, raspberry jam and cheddar cheese.

Proper steak pie lovingly made by Mrs Fatboy.
Proper chips.
Proper gravy.

Proper Lancashire cheese (crumbly, obviously) on a Warbys fruit tea cake for supper.

Given the context of another lockdown so decorating again plus the dull and wet weather and another poor display by the team I seek solace in the performance of my fantasy league team. At the moment I am in the top 10 but so to are my sons so its all to play for as regards bragging rights. Exciting times..........

Today had been a treat from start to present.
I woke up with a full tank of kick-arse energy. I’ve had Covid for 14 days, so energy levels have been low.
This morning I’ve pointed some flags that I laid before I got The Lurgy, then I cast a small concrete plinth for a cut-wood store I’ve got to build.
Now I’ve just had an hour and half on my motorcycle.....picking up some essential shopping....whilst taking the long way back home.

Keep up the abstinence but find yourself a treat of a soft drink in the mean time. I always consider hot chocolate a treat but check out some non-alcoholic cocktails.

My treat of the day is being asked to visit the office to assist with some circuit breaker testing - WFH can wear a man down.

Other treats today include a chicken and stuffing sandwich (Sunday roast leftovers) and a Creme Egg.

I’m also on Dry January. Alas I am married...

Bury has done a great job marketing their black pudding which is excellent stuff.

But the best I've had comes from Burnley market.

It's something the town and the locals should make more of a fuss about - it's a world class product.

What you can get for 75pence on Burnley Market could be chopped up and fried to make 3-4 starters in a fancy London restaurant at £10-a-piece.

Burnley market black pud stall, great memories. Eating them straight from the stall, plenty of salt vinegar and mustard mmm. Avoided wiping hands on the tea towel that they had hanging up, it was filthy.

You had to wipe your hands on the flithy tea towel, was part of the ritual back in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I’m off the beer and on a diet, lost 5lb but want to lose another 5lb, works rubbish, weathers rubbish, nothing to look forward to at all at the minute so miserable as sin

Managed a 7k before it went dark, it’s the only thing I enjoy at the minute.
