Phil Neville gone ...
Left his post as England & Great Britain Olympic Women's Coach with immediate effect, amidst strong rumours he's taking the Inter Miami Coach's role ...
Typical Phil, " The players have challenged me, and improved me as a Coach " ....... er, I think it's your job to improve them, Phil ! They've had 7 defeats in the last 11 games ....

I'm not sure what to make of him going to Inter Miami
There must be something off with him if he's got no club in the UK sniffing about yet the likes of Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard are all walking into jobs.

Inter Miami ......every time I see or hear that name I just cringe and die a bit inside. MK Dons meets Hello magazine.

When I have seen Phil Neville interviews, he comes across as very arrogant and an unpleasant person, living off his fame of the "class of 92" when he was the worst player.

it's "Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami" because of the massive south american population in Miami, it's very far from what you are suggestingStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:13 pmInter Miami ......every time I see or hear that name I just cringe and die a bit inside. Hmmm...I will bow to your superior knowledge Vegas. Whether I can shift my innate prejudice against something I perceive to be an artificial "brand-Beckham" construct is something else though.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:40 pmit's "Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami" because of the massive south american population in Miami, it's very far from what you are suggesting

Re: Phil Neville gone ...
Given where it is it is a highly appropriate name, as for the rest I would agree but that is 'sport' in America - everything is a franchise and incredibly corporate and has been for decades..........nothing to do with BeckhamStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:43 pmHmmm...I will bow to your superior knowledge Vegas. Worst player of the most commonly known, but not the worst of the rest of them.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:17 pmWhen I have seen Phil Neville interviews, he comes across as very arrogant and an unpleasant person, living off his fame of the "class of 92" when he was the worst player.

Re: Phil Neville gone ...
The friends from " The class of 92 " buy Salford, no issue with that, and then sell 50% to Mr Peter Lim, a Singapore businessman in September 2014. Earlier, Phil is appointed 1st team Coach at United under David Moyes but both are sacked after 10 months, in April 2014. In July 2015, Phil gets the 1st team Coach job at Valencia, owned by er.... Peter Lim. The Manager is sacked on 28th November 2015, and Gary Neville is then brought in but is sacked after less than 4 months, with the worst record of any Manager in Valencia history, winning 3 out 16 League games and not one " Clean Sheet " ..
In January 2018, he's appointed England manager, with a total managerial experience of one game ... England have now lost 7 out of the last 11 games they've played, which, to be fair, most were against Top 10 ranking teams ....

Re: Phil Neville gone ...
TBH I'm he's survived this long, England failed in their quest to lift the WC, indeed after finishing 3rd in 2015, Phil only managed a 4th placed finish in 2019, and the results since have been incredibly poor for the talent at his disposal, it looks to me like he's getting out well he still can, and before he gets a sacking on his CV.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:00 pmLeft his post as England & Great Britain Olympic Women's Coach with immediate effect, amidst strong rumours he's taking the Inter Miami Coach's role ...

It is telling that no EFL clubs have approached him, and he's in danger of becoming yet another big name player who can't hack it in the managerial hot seat.
Hopefully Southgate will follow him out the door after this summer's Euros, neither have convinced me they have it in them to achieve success on the big stage.
Re: Phil Neville gone ...
It had been announced last August that he would be leaving the England women's role
His successor was at the time already contracted to the Holland job until next September
She had decided to show loyalty to her current employers and honour the deal that was in place
Pity Neville didn't show that same loyalty
But Florida and dollars do make a difference

Re: Phil Neville gone ...
He had a great group of attacking players in the England team, but not a bloody clue how to use them and set them up best.
Might do well if he goes over the pond though, as it is a lower level to Women's International football.

You can sugarcoat women’s football all you like, but leaving that international managerial position for plastic American club with an average attendance of sub-three-thousand is a still a step up.

Re: Phil Neville gone ...
So their first season attendance has been disrupted by Covid regs and they are playing all the way up in ft lauderdale until the Miami stadium is built. But apart from that your research is spot on.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 1:48 amYou can sugarcoat women’s football all you like, but leaving that international managerial position for plastic American club with an average attendance of sub-three-thousand is a still a step up.
By the way, their fans are nuts.

That's what I thought. Why him? Unless he's managing the women's team and nobody has told him

Maybe he was excited to manage Higuain, Matuidi and Pizarro?
