Who is this 50s/60s ex-Claret?
I've been sent this pic - I'm not certain although I do have a name in mind but I'm sure someone will know who it is (royboyclaret where are you?)

If it is I'll be disgusted with myself for not getting it. He does look a bit like him though.

Look at the size of Joe Brown's thighs!
Chris Hoy would envy those.

I would also say Len Kinsella

Yep, I'm with green_parrot on this one, I'd say that's definitely Len Kinsella.
I used to play tennis with Len and one day at Queen's Park back in the 1980s we made up the numbers in a football match on an adjoining pitch where some of my mates were playing. It's only when you see these ex-pros close up that you realise just how unbelievably good they are!

It is Stan back row fourth from the left. I've just come off the phone to him. I sent him the pic at the top of the thread and asked if he knew who it was. He phoned be back and said it was Len Kinsella. Just had a lovely chat with Stan.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 11:16 amIs that Stan back row fourth left on the team photo?

Some big important people on that pic away from the players - Joe Brown, Ray Bennion on the left and then George Bray and Billy Dougall on the right.

Re: Who is this 50s/60s ex-Claret?
Think Brian is on second row down, 5 players in stood next to Freddie Smith. Recall Len Kinsella having a very good game close to the end of the season at home to Stoke. Won 4-0. Mid 60's. Scored two goals,I think. Didn't get much of a look-in if I remember rightly.

Hope he didn't struggle with the bloke to the left of Harry Potts. And the bloke next to him looks like he is about to complain about the price of a pint, though I wouldn't tell him to his face

Andy Lochhead and Willie Irvine sat together on the picture. Bloody hell, they terrorised some defenders.

Wow what a blast from the past. Some tough characters in the photo. John Talbut, Dave Merrington, Gordon Harris, Brian Miller and of course Andy Lochhead. It's definitely not Brian O'Neil but could be Les Latchams brother. Not sure about Len Kinsella though.

I think the extended Bee Hole was ready for the beginning of the 70-71 season.

What looks odd is that some players are in round-neck shirts and some in V-necks.

What an amazing squad of players I doubt that there has ever been so much talent in one squad.

There are some great photos on this site that I haven't seen on others such as Getty:
https://www.shutterstock.com/editorial/ ... 1969-01-20
The link should be date range from 1945-1969 but there are plenty more from other eras.

I would guess this photo call is for the 1964/65 season (?) Jimmy Adamson's last as a player.....

Re: Who is this 50s/60s ex-Claret?
I think you are correct. It can't be any later - we switched to white socks in 1965/66 but both Johnny Price and David Walker are on the photograph and both left us at the end of the 1964/65 season.claretfern wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 5:55 pmIt would guess this photo call is for the 1964/65 season (?) Could one of the missing names be John Murray He signed in March 65. Would have been approx 17
Re: Who is this 50s/60s ex-Claret?
Colin Blant signed Aug 64 ? Could be another. Right of Coates ?
