Re: Norwich
I believe a good chunk of the often quoted £15m fee was down to add ons such as appearances etc which we’ve obviously not come close to triggering. Most likely will still take a hit on the fee but don’t be anything like £7m.

Re: Norwich
the sale will go down as a profit, because of the book value of Gibson when it goes through - could be as much as £3m - £4m
perhaps more important will be the cash flow improvement if Norwich are required to pay in full immediately

Re: Norwich
More importantly Rovers are 9 points shy of the play-offs, it's looking like another season of mid-table mediocrity for our neighbours, they've even been overtaken by PNE tonight.
Norwich should be returning to the top flight soon, and any money we receive for Gibson will be welcome, he's never going to right the wrongs at Burnley, so it's best for all parties if he moves on.
A pity things never worked out, because on paper he looked an ideal signing, but it happens in football sometimes.

Not that I've seen much of the championship but a club that won the league 2 years ago and has that experience with the same manager and most of the players.Wellsy1882 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:22 pmIve got brentford to win the league

7 point lead looks too much.

Re: Norwich
Norwich apparently have an obligation to buy at 8m should they get promoted.
That's as well as the 3m loan fee they apparently paid for his services this season.
That should ensure we get most if not all our outlay back, as the fee we paid Boro was rising to 15m with add ons, and I'd very much doubt theres been that many add ons achieved.
Yes, Norwich really did spend more than us this summer, but youd be pushed to find a side in the top 2 divisions who didnt.

Norwich have done well they usually manage to get back up after relegation and have held onto Cantwell despite pressure from buyers

Re: Norwich
We should have tried to prise Cantwell away from them on their relegation. Perfect, young dynamic central midfielder. Just what we need right now.

Will be a handy £7m.
It'll help nicely with our debt servicing.

Re: Norwich
If we get 7 million for him it’s a genius agreement given the way it ended with him and Dyche.
I still think it’s poor man management on this occasion and could have been handled a lot better.

Rightly so.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:48 amNorwich fans are raving about Gibson. They will be over the moon they have the obligation to buy in place.
He was on the verge of an England cap at one point, and ball playing left sided centre backs aren't that common.
7m will be an absolute snip if he is rediscovering his form and potential prior to us buying him.
A leader too, and you can never have enough of them when trying for promotion or battling relegation.

Re: Norwich
Never understood why he was never given real gametime ,we weren't exactly pulling up any trees in the defensive department at the time

If Norwich didn't have players like Grant Hanley but did have Tarkowski & Mee as their centre halfs, do you think they would be raving about those 2 or Gibson ?

My personal opinion is Mee should have been replaced by Tarky to play alongside Keane and then Gibson when he came in.
Mee is a great last ditch defender, puts his body on the line for us every week. Looks great on camera.
But let's be honest, better defenders engage and sort the issues out much further up the pitch. No need for the desperation.
Mee backs off faster than an Italian tank.
Like Baresi said, if he got his shorts dirty he had made a mistake by being out of position.

Hopefully we get to see Gibson in the Prem with Norwich next season and we can compare Mee & Gibson against the same opposition week in week out.
Re: Norwich
Two knee operations, I believe. Some sort of operation, anyway. For his first half season he wasn't available, and for the following year we were pulling up all the defensive trees as if deforestation wasn't a problem.
Re: Norwich
Didn't know that thought he was available when mee was off form
