Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
According to the Burnley Express (and I assume Boden), the Vydra - King swap is still a possibility.
Jason Knight appears to be off to Leeds.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
You clearly haven’t seen Vydra recently if you think he has pace. I haven’t seen much of Gray I will admit but I’d hazard a guess he’s still got more pace than Vydra.

Too lightweight for a Dyche team.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I wouldn’t, the definition of ‘flatters to deceive.’ His goals and assist record for Everton is pretty poor.

I think a better buy would be Cenk Tosun from Everton, much more a Dyche type of player.

When was the last time you say Gray play?tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:43 pmHmm! depends on Gray's attitude, just maybe he's got a point to prove after sitting on Watford's bench so much, and he would offer us that much needed pace, don't know what sort of wages Andre's on, but if we could get a swap deal in place it might suit all parties, Vydra isn't going to play regularly under Sean, and Andre would be a better option in my view, purely due to his pace.
He doesn’t have any pace anymore and that was about the only attribute he had going for him.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I haven't seen Gray play for a few years, and if he's lost a yard of pace, then I'd probably reconsider my opinion, because that was his one major asset I agree.
If not Gray then we need to find someone with genuine pace, because it's a real problem for us when we attempt to break, as we did several times at Anfield, and then our attack fizzled out.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Does it not work like this?
Dyche to Pace: We’ve been tracking Armstrong for the last 12 months and I’d like to sign him.
Pace: Ok, how much do you think Blackburn will let him go for?
Dyche: Might take £12 million. We could offer £8 million and see what the response is from their chairman.
Pace: Ok, I’ll have a word with my investment team and see if we can get a reasonable interest rate on the loan.
Dyche: Ok, thanks boss, there are other teams sniffing round so a quick decision would be appreciated.
Pace: Don’t worry Sean my team don’t mess around, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
While I have not followed Andre Grey much since he left us, mainly highlights I know I was not overly concerned when he left us... which I think says it all. Came with a lot of baggage and he has not pulled any trees since. I’m not against old players returning, if it was Trips or Ings I’d be delighted, but it is not, I just do not see why it is even being discussed tbh.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I remember seeing Gray at Watford when Hendrick was sent off. A few times he had a head start on Kaboul, their centre back, who caught him up with ease. It seemed as if he was hitting the gym a bit and seemed to have slowed him down.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Gray was great in the Championship because the defenders weren't as quick as him, they are far quicker in the PL so he looked a bang average footballer most of the time, combined with the fact his first touch is atrocious I'd be gutted if we signed him
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I remember being shocked when Saints bought Wayne Thomas off us for 1.5 million. Gray was on a similar level.
I liked Gray, but he didn't have great technique and his first touch wasn't the level needed. He was best working the channels with balls to run on to. Difficulty was that elsewhere he wasn't that effective and Prem defences just stopped him being where he wanted. And he slowed up.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If we or anybody else could get Armstrong for £12m they'll be doing well, that said he does only have 18 months on his contract, so they might be prepared to do business in the summer, after they've once again failed in reaching the play-offs, I can't help noticing he can also play on the left or right, so this would be an ideal capture, I'll be if it happens however. It would certainly be a statement of intent from the new owners, and it'd be worth it just to see the melt down amongst their supporters.Mala591 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 1:16 pmDoes it not work like this?

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Wouldn't mind Armstrong, very quick, natural instinctive finisher with probably a bit more finesse than our current crop. Versatile enough to play wide of a 3 if required.
Believe he lives locally, so that will suit some on here that think it's a prerequisite for any prospective signing!!!

I wouldn’t exactly call it being “way over optimistic” expecting a few signings this window.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 5:48 pmI think 1 was always going to be a good window. But no harm in being way over-optimistic.
We haven’t made a marquee signing since the 2018-19 season. I think a lot of us expected the new owners to come in and support Dyche.

I’ll be surprised if we haven’t made a signing or two by deadline day. New owners will want to make a statement.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 5:51 pmI wouldn’t exactly call it being “way over optimistic” expecting a few signings this window.

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He may be fast, skillfull and can score goals, but how does he get back and defend. That's all Dyche will measure his value on

The Sun are reporting us and Arsenal are chasing Nathan Collins from Stoke for £10m.

The old Stoke scouting, love it.
This lad seems to have youth on his side though, can’t say I know owt about him. I’ll ask my Stoke supporting mate.

Looks the right type - I wonder if pursuing him and Knight at Derby as they’re both coming through the Irish ranks together ?
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
He’s playing regularly in the Championship at 19 yrs old. Usually the right hand side of a back 3.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I like the line that says Arsenal would need to find the money, but Burnley already have the funds available.

Nathan Collins would be a good signing. Hasn't he captained Stoke already at 19? Good replacement for Tarkowski when he moves on.

Either they really don’t intend to sell or they’re hoping that’s make a difference to a player they’re presumably not paying. Or maybe they only pay the manager and captain?Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:52 amJust been made Derby Captain, trying to play on his home club loyalty?

Collins at Stoke who’s been linked looks a decent prospect, highly thought of and a great age in terms of either a long term stay, and or sell on potential.
If he’s the same fee as Worrall then Collins would be a no brainier if it’s a case of either or.
