What have we learned about the Premier League this season?

Post by RalphCoatesComb » Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:24 pm

For me, it's that we needn't fear any team (Apart from Citeh that is  ). Any team can be beaten.

With Nick Pope, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski at the heart of our defence, we are MEAN. Once our strikers hit form, points will flow.

UTC !

That the fans are a very important and integral part of the game.

Treat us with respect.

That the new new new new offside law is an utter farce. Injuries waiting to happen.

That they’ve had to change the way rules are applied to allow for VAR.

That it a great place to be, both financially and to be able to see the best players in Britain. There are also other teams who have useful players as well.

Fans matter more to the bigger clubs than the little clubs, as they influence referees. If someone had told me that we were going to win at Anfield via a late penalty I would have laughed at them. Do you think we'd have been awarded the penalty if fans had been present? I doubt it very much.

Liverpool are just an average side if their messiah is not allowed to spend £millions
Frank Lampard has realised "you can't win anything with kids" - wasn't it an ex Liverpool player who said that
Steve Bruce is a serial loser
Money doesn't buy you everything Mr Wilder
I hate BFS more than ever
Don't the managers use some "fruity" language :o

Good post. I think the reason why the ‘big six’ aren’t running away with it as usual is down to that. Sure they have the quality which should always shine through but as you rightly point out would the ref have given a penalty that late at Anfield with 50k scousers screaming at him? In fact as Dyche pointed out at the weekend we normally get ‘one penalty every 24 games’, now we’ve had two in two (not that Fulham are a big club but you get the drift). Home advantage has suddenly become much less of an advantage.

That without the fans in the stadium you can hear players scream like girls at a One Direction concert after the slightest hint of contact, usually followed by a dive with double forward somersault and a half twist, only to miraculously recover in time to take the free kick they have just conned out of the ref.

Very true

But have also noticed a welcome change from certain refs who ignore these cries and motion just to play on

A very important point. Players who play to the crowd, by screaming like a banshee, merely make themselves look silly. Have any of our players behaved like that?

Will Refs continue to ignore such cheating when we get back to normal ?

That even the best teams can lose if they do not play to their strengths with maximum effort. If you are even slightly off form you will struggle - even teams like City and Liverpool are not exempt.
