Re: Vydra
Vydra is first-class but may be better coming off the bench. However, I think he deserves at least 30 minutes of any game just because of the different problems he causes opposing defences with his movement and pace. With more minutes per game I think he would also start to find the back of the net.

Re: Vydra
More goals per minutes played as well, not just this season, over his entire PL career.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:03 amNo wonder when he plays every game.
The others can't score on the bench.
He plays every game because he's our best striker.
Re: Vydra
Gets us playing better football with his movement both in the channels and he is generally quite tidy collecting it behind the main striker. He reminds me of how Danny Ings used to play for us, albeit without Ings' goal threat/scoring abilities. Agree with some comments that he might be looking better as he's against tiring defenders later on, although he played from the start against Fulham and was very impressive throughout. Would definitely like to see more of him and for longer periods.

Re: Vydra
Well, this BB is all about opinions and for me, a striker who rarely scores should be dropped. How do the other strikers motivate themselves if they know Sean has favorites?
Re: Vydra
He doesn't rarely score though, he averages around a goal every 220 minutes.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:13 amWell, this BB is all about opinions and for me, a striker who rarely scores should be dropped. How do the other strikers motivate themselves if they know Sean has favorites?

Re: Vydra
Let me help you out here. Burnley play two up front every week. Wood has scored double the amount of goals as the rest of the strikers put together. So who are you going to replace him with? On your logic none of them as they have only got two goals between them one of which was a penalty.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:13 amWell, this BB is all about opinions and for me, a striker who rarely scores should be dropped. Re: Vydra
Vydra was excellent last night. Kept our play high up the pitch and, against a tiring defence, he dragged them all over.
The fact is we have 4 good strikers at the club and we can only start with 2. It's a healthy position to be in but is always going to leave a couple disappointed when they don't start. Wood IS the best out of the four so it's a case of getting the right mix with him for each game.

Re: Vydra
Wood should score more than the others as he never passes to team mates anywhere near the box. Vydra and Jay Rod are very unselfish players.
Re: Vydra
The other positive last night was having JBG on. Brady doesn't really work on the right wing because of how consistently he has to cut in on his left - it makes the centre of the pitch congested. JBG even with no other output, automatically stretches play wider which creates more space centrally for the strikers. If that's Vydra then it means he has more time on the ball to create as he is the best of our strikers at doing that.
JBG stretching play, Cork driving us forward and Vydra bringing a touch of class to our play - all three were instrumental last night.

I’m happy with starting as we do and Vyds off the bench but when he’s been out on on 84 minutes it’s poor and this is what has got a lot of people’s backs up.
75 mins as last night is the latest time that he would regularly affect a game, possible 20 mins with added time.
But there’s been games where Barnes put in a shift but was clearly knackered by the hour mark and Vyds should have come on but he got 6 or 7 minutes

That's a stupid argument. The other strikers can't score if they don't get picked.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 12:29 amLet me help you out here. Burnley play two up front every week. Another good game so far. Creating so much space and panic at the back and opening up chances. If only had confidence and conviction in front of goal.
Play so much better football with him though.

He is our best 'footballer' by a country mile. He's been fantastic today - if he has shown half as much in training, he should have been picked months ago

Think you might just be unlucky with that, SD won't break up his dream team of Wood & Barnes.houseboy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 11:32 pmI’m a massive fan of Vydra and have said it for ages he should be starting. Think if he did Wood might get his mojo back. Wood is a very good striker but he’s just lost his way a bit and maybe a couple of games rest then hooking up with Vyds might just do him good.

Created a lot. Just needed to smash the three opportunities he had. One he tried outside the foot the other two he cut back.

Re: Vydra
Played well today. Some good tou hes and runs b if Wood had been offside as many times he'd get peltees on here.
Its a shame he is no real goal threat but creates space for othees

Re: Vydra
Nor sure about Jay. The i would have brought him on for the final 15 but I can see why Dyche didn't as we were doing well. But by 80 mins Barnes was really struggling so the injection of fresh legs might have helped

Re: Vydra
Was great to watch today - just badly needs a goal. Has to be allowed to start the remaining games considering how out of form the rest of them are. It feels like he is going to get a flurry.

Re: Vydra
Vydra has pace and movement and played well but is offside more than Wood and is pushed off the ball easily , especially in first half.
He also had the best chances but failed to take any.
In this league you get little time to make the shot and you can see he will score goals in Championship but not in the Premiy League
However as I said he played well today and can’t be faulted for put a shift in

Re: Vydra
Brilliant today. Their defence really struggled to handle him and it really seemed to click. Shame he didn’t top off the performance with a goal but he will rightly keep the shirt after that shift.

Re: Vydra
Wether he’s good enough for this level or not, Vydra caused havoc at times for them, if he was partnered by Wood today I think we would have won easily. If a goal goes in for Vydra we may see a very confident boy if he carries on getting starts! He is the reason that we have created more chances in my

Vydra was absolutely brilliant today. His movement was excellent, some fantastic touches and link up play.
I'd stick with these two up top for the next 2 to 3 games.

Re: Vydra
He certainly played a part in us creating more chances. But for me it’s pretty obvious that we create a lot, lot more chances when we commit players forward. The second half was a joy to watch and when we give the full backs and midfielders license to push forward it really gets the best out of Dwight and JBG.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:04 pmWether he’s good enough for this level or not, Vydra caused havoc at times for them, if he was partnered by Wood today I think we would have won easily. Re: Vydra
Shows a lot of emotion when he's missed or whatnot
Great skill but needs to keep his composure and just get back up and crack on with it. He's got skill and needs to keep his head clear.
