Rarely has there been a better to to meet Spurs

Post by RalphCoatesComb » Wed Feb 24, 2021 4:04 pm

At the risk of getting up the nose of those who hate Stats and Tables, has there been a better time to face Harry Kane and his friends in recent years?

Ralph Coates hair would fall out whist combing it if he could hear you !
Let's hope you're right.

So all of our tail end rivals are below us except Brighton.
Are our doom-mongers ever happy?

Very true, however, it is what happens in the next 12 games that is important. That form table is nice reading but it is history.

There are some good signs for us.
Spurs generally haven't played well since Harry got his ankle(s) injury (though he's been back for 2/3 games now).
The power of the Kane/Son partnership has faded somewhat
The Jose/Spurs relationship seems to be souring a bit with various rumours about Spurs looking for alternative managers etc.

It'd be good if Wood was fit, (if I remember right) he scored his first goal for us at Wembley v Spurs -an equaliser right at the end of that game. Especially given their central defence isnt strong - nothing like in the peak Alderweiread/ Vertonghen days.

Certainly cant rule us out despite the bookies' 11/2 odds on the away win; (In fact I've persuaded myself into a bet here).

Now that opening statement is tempting fate ;)

A lot of people were saying it was a good time to play WBA last Saturday and look where that got us

We haven't won a league match away to Spurs since October 1974

Keep the faith :)

Should be winning this match easily but if we get beat then you have to fear the worst for the rest of the season

Would have been way better when Kane was missing. Biggest problem we have is who is fit to play rather than who is unfit for them

Nope jigsaws are for kids or coffin dodgers so not really my thing. What about you, have you done a jigsaw recently?

Spurs have had a lot of problems with set plays this season , so we could do with our bully boys upfront being fit .

250, but 3 were missing. One turned up later under the cat's basket, but 2 still AWOL.

I'd agree with the op if we had a fully fit squad, but sadly we don't, now that's not to say we can't get a result at Spurs, but it greatly reduces our chances I'm afraid.

It would be a big boost if Wood was fit at least, he's got a decent record against Spurs, and if he plays we have a chance of scoring anyway, however the problem will be keeping their prolific strike force quiet, hopefully the 8 day break will have served us well, and we can at least produce a performance miles better than last Saturday.

They eased through in the EL tonight I note, and also rested most of their big hitters, I suppose we should take that as a compliment by Jose.
