Southampton v Brighton?
What result would people prefer from this game today? A Brighton loss would help cement our position and obviously make it more likely that Brighton would go down. On the other hand a Southampton loss means we move above them. Hard to call.

Brighton to lose, keeps the gap there for us.
Plus keeps more pressure on them with the way Fulham are playing and I'm not sure they can cope with it.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
It's largely irrelevant to us but I guess a draw, two points being distributed rather than three, is best at the moment.

No-brainer to me - Brighton defeat

Yes, a draw, with one point floating away into the atmosphere.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
Tough one really. Brighton won’t catch us but I think we’ve got a good chance of finishing above Soton, with them coming up for us next. I’d like Brighton to go down though so I’ll go for a draw.
Re: Southampton v Brighton?
Definitely Brighton defeat for me too. I’d prefer Fulham to stay up and would revel in the fact that Potter would go down as the “best English manager in the Premier League” according to the mass love in for him.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
I despise Brighton. With a passion I can barely put into words.... what they have become saddens me.
I really, really want them down. I want to see them struggling to exist.
Southampton to win for me.... I don’t think they are real candidates for the drop anyway, I believe they have too much. I don’t think we are now either, but Brighton could well be in the smelly stuff....

I'd really like Brighton to go down. They used to be such an inconsequential football club, totally forgettable. Do you know how many insects you have crushed without realising, they are just so small and insignificant you just can't tell? They used to be like that and I'd them to go back to that.

Don’t want Southampton to hit a run of form before we play them, so I’ll go for a draw.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
Being logical -a draw would probably be best because 2 of our nearby competitors lose a point between them.
Straying from the purely logical: I'm not over keen on Saints but like BHA much less - so a home win please.
Strangely (to me anyway), my bookie has Saints at longer odds to win (21/10) than Brighton (7/5)- draw is longest @ 11/5. As I'll be watching this on tv, I've had a very small bet on the home win.

Two best managers in the league apparently. Along with Parker.
Brilliant at everything other than winning games.

0-0 with lots of sending off.
We want to keep Southampton where we can zoom past and their goal diff as crap as ours. Brighton 1 point keeps them in the relegation struggle.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
A bit conflicted on this one.
I put £20 on Southampton to get relegated a few weeks ago at 100-1, so in the unlikely event they go down it would be worth £2000 to me.
But purely from a Burnley perspective would definitely prefer a Southampton win.
I see Brighton are already winning. I really doubt Southampton are going to get dragged into it, but they are an an absolutely dreadful run! One more goal for Brighton and we go ahead of them anyway!

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
From purely economic interest even at post rebate rates a league position can be worth around £2m - which is a players wages for the season, the high we can finish the better so a Brighton win for us, and I will go and wash my mouth out

Southampton are truly awful defensively. Brighton could win this with some to spare if they could finish chances.
Can't believe Soton will be as bad as this when we play them.

Always impressed with Francis Benali when I hear him speak about the game, very good on Sky the few times he’s on. And seems a lovely fella ta boot.

If Southampton go on to lose this game, with the poor run they are on they are right in the relegation picture.

Southampton are toothless upfront . If Ings is out for a considerable time they could easily be in trouble .

Two poor sides I thought.
The lack of urgency and sloppiness displayed by some of the Southampton players would worry me if was one of their fans. A decent captain would have a “word” with few of their players in the changing room.

Probably the worst possible result for us but watching Southampton you wonder just how they were so high up the table earlier in the season although they do potentially have the cup in their minds.

Saints were dross in that 2nd half. No urgency or spirit until the 3 minutes of added time and then not much of it.
As per previous post, a lot of very sloppy/lifeless performances from the Saints.

Re: Southampton v Brighton?
I beg to differ. I’m looking UP the table and this helps us immensely in moving up. Not bothered about those below us because we will finish on 43/44 points. I also don’t have this irrational hatred of Brighton that many on here have.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:59 pmProbably the worst possible result for us but watching Southampton you wonder just how they were so high up the table earlier in the season although they do potentially have the cup in their minds.
