Burnley Red Card
I was looking at the Premier League Red Card Table and Burnley are down for one Red Card this season when did this happen?

West Brom at home. We did well to hold them to a draw only having 10 men.

Re: Burnley Red Card
When Erik Pieters got sent off v Arsenal and had it overturned, but the FA decided that Burnley are so bloody disciplined (Keith Treacy v West Ham in the league cup, our last red at Turf Moor), that they insisted on giving us a red!
Seriously, it’s there in error!

Can only assume they were quick off the mark durning the Arsenal game and it’s the rescinded Pieters oneYeovil1951 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 6:46 pmI was looking at the Premier League Red Card Table and Burnley are down for one Red Card this season when did this happen?

Even Arsenal fans (10 red cards in a season and a bit, 8 of them straight red) complained in advance that their players were at risk of injury. 90 minutes and 4 fouls later, I didn't see many signs that they realised they were wrong.

Have we ever had a Red card at home, in the Premier League?. What's our total number of Red cards in Premier League games?.

Re: Burnley Red Card
In spite of the PL official website saying that we have had 8 red cards in the PL, I think that we have only had 7.
2009/10 x 2 : 2014/15 x 2: 2016/17 x 2: 2018/19 x 1: The last player to be dismissed was Robbie Brady on 2 January 2019 when he came on as a sub in the 67th minute and was sent off in the 90th minute by Mike Dean.
They are still showing 1 for this season and this is incorrect and they need to get a grip!

Re: Burnley Red Card
I'm sure had one in 09/10 rescinded, so perhaps a more accurate question would be 'how many players have been suspended as a result of red cards' in which case the correct answer would only be 6, I think.

Was that the Duff one at West Ham? Re: Burnley Red Card
You are correct. Michael Duff appealed and that was rescinded in May 2015 --it was for a straight red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Of the other 6 issued, 3 were for second yellows and 3 were straight red.
Caldwell straight red in 90th minute v West Ham in 2009. Brady straght red in 90th minute v Huddersfield in 2019 and Jeff Hendrick in 6th minute v Watford in 2017.
One of the second yellows issued to Ashley Barnes was also in the 90th minute v Hull in 2017. Ashley was also dismissed for a second yellow at Everton in 2015. Stephen Jordan was also dismissed for a second yellow against Everton in 2009.

Re: Burnley Red Card
I know they were rare in the fifties and sixties - wasn't Billy Elliot's "look of intent" the only one in the first twenty year or so post-war? But I dare say by the 1970's they had become a bit more common. I wouldn't know where to look, though.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:45 pmBack in the 1970s obviously but I've no idea who. I know Hankin went against Leeds in 74/75 but beyond that I'm not sure.
But as that was before the days of red cards, we can presumably say that no BFC player has ever been given a red card at Turf Moor in the top division. Unless someone ants to be literal and say that Pieters was!

Red cards introduced in 1976/77 just after we'd been relegated.dsr wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:52 pmI know they were rare in the fifties and sixties - wasn't Billy Elliot's "look of intent" the only one in the first twenty year or so post-war? In terms of red cards - we’re top of the fair play league for the last 2 seasons

Re: Burnley Red Card
Tony, what you say is correct, however, when the card was issued to Pieters it was shown on the PL stats and it was only later that it was removed from Pieters name. It would appear that there is a glitch in their system because it was not removed from the other stats.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 12:33 pmI've taken a look at this and we are down for one red card although it is not the Pieters rescinded one because he's down for no red cards.

Treacy’s in League Cup v West Ham but Trippier v Charlton & Marney v Birmingham (although rescinded on appeal) were in 2012/13 season.

Re: Burnley Red Card
I didn’t really agree with Brady’s either. It wasn’t DOACGO as it was still in their half and it wasn’t particularly dangerous although I’ll admit he was about 10 yards from the ball
Re: Burnley Red Card
I remember as a young schoolboy seeing Frank Casper get sent off at the Turf after punching a Manchester United player.
I think that might have been late 1960's?
