Joe Fletcher (Burnley CC) RIP
Just learned that former Burnley CC opening bowler Joe Fletcher has passed away after a long illness. I’m not sure how old he was but he made his Burnley debut in 1959 so I suspect late 70s.
Smashing bloke was Joe and he was also a claret.
What a servant he was to the cricket club. After playing his last game he went on to coach for years afterwards.
RIP Joe.

Very sad, I know how popular Joe was down there.
Condolences to those at BCC and his family, I’m sure he will be really missed.

Couldn't meet a nicer man. A great help to me in the early 70s when I was the Burnley scorer.

You are so right Paul, you couldn’t meet a nicer man. I must have known him, initially through Jack Schofield, for 55 years or more. Damn good Lancs League bowler too.Paulclaret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:03 amCouldn't meet a nicer man. A great help to me in the early 70s when I was the Burnley scorer.

That’s astonishing to even think of posting that without checking although I’m delighted to hear that Joe is still with us.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 11:24 amBurnley CC have just announced they got it wrong and he's still alive, fighting.

It is astonishing, but I do hope Joe gets to read all the wonderful things people have wrote about him. I didn't know him but a lot of friends have wrote wonderful tributes about him.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 11:27 amThat’s astonishing to even think of posting that without checking although I’m delighted to hear that Joe is still with us.

That is a stunning error by someone. But I guess all’s well that ends well.

I don’t know the fella but it may be worth re-wording the subject title!
