A very good player in a very poor side
29 but worth a bid. Very good tackler and great distribution

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Not as good as Cork or Westwood, on a par with Stephens.......perhaps a few years ago but no thanks.

No better than what we have. We need to be improving or investing with the money that we have to spend.

Top lad. I see him in the summer at FX personal training in Burnley. He still comes here to train. Fit as a fiddle. No brainer

I think Ollie Norwood lives in Rawtenstall and his house is currently on the market....
A decent enough player but no better than what we already have and not really the right profile we should be aiming for.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
if we still had the previous board then maybe, but I'm hopeful the new guys show more ambition than this type of signing

Would be a good fit into our way of playing. Nice to think we could do better but he’s probably close to our market

We have had a bit of interest of the years according to someone in the 110 club who used to play football with his dad.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 8:55 pmThe club have never shown an interest in him have they?

Always been on way more than Burnley have paid at the time.

Trying to think when Dyche last bought a 30 year old midfielder.
That'll be a no then.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Not good enough nor old enough.
Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Like Stephens, 4 years too late.
Need to improve the first 11 with a couple of players which in turn improves the squad.
Cannot keep wasting money on ageing players barely good enough for the bench, they spend most of their time unavailable and even when called into action aren't up to the standard required.
It's a total waste of money.
I'm hoping the new board have a little more of a long term plan than the previous Charlatan

Last bloke had quite a good plan I thought.
Make the club a regular fixture in the PL whilst operating it within its means.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
We operated well within our means
This we couldn't afford players has caused concern
Matty Cash was within our range but we offered less than the price.Harrison Reed was £8m and looks a decent player in a very poor Fulham side
Personally, I suspect no players in or out other than our U23 players out of contract
Covid will be blamed it's the ready made excuse for lack of signings

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
More chance of him playing for Burnley Cricket club again
Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
I've always quite liked Norwood as a player and he had a fantastic spell at Sheff Utd when they were moving upwards at a rate of knots. As a deep-lying playmaker I don't think there were many better in the Championship.
I don't think he's quite Premier League quality though and it's not like he's young enough to improve. If we did sign someone like him it'd be because he's a good lad in the dressing room and he's cheap, and we really need to move away from that sort of signing.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
If we buy another CM he needs to be a stella signing. Would put Norwood in the Cork, Westwood calibre
Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Not for me thanks, what is our obsession with local born footballers? Imho he isn’t as good as 3 of the central midfielders we’ve already got.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Norwood at best would be a squad player and we've already get plenty of those, what we really need is someone who can command a starting berth in our starting XI, clearly Dale Stephens can't, so the last thing we need is yet another average ageing cm cluttering up our over 30 age bracket even further.
I know Sheff Utd have struggled badly this season, but Norwood's numbers don't make great reading by anyone's standards, 28 appearances 4 yellows, and not a sniff of any goal involvement, plus he's still got 2 years on his contract,, so he wouldn't even necessarily be a cheap option should we wish to pursue him, if we do have some loose change to strengthen I'd hope we've got our sights set far higher than the likes of Oli Norwood.
And I do wonder if this is just lazy thinking, the lad was born in Burnley, so just link him to Burnley at the end of every season, that's how it seems to me anyway.
Norwood isn't going to improve at his age, and he wouldn't represent any sell-on value either, so I fail to see how his signing would benefit the club in any fashion, so it's a definite no from me.

Re: Ollie Norwood anyone?
Just think he's a neat technical player, good at set pieces... that's Westwood isn't it? And I'm more than happy with him.
