Wasnt it quoted that he wanted £100k a week though if he was sold to help him recoup the signing on fee he would get for leaving on a free?Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:14 pmAt this juncture £3-5m for Christie is very good value, I'd try to make it happen asap
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
That's a shift from last season then if true. A couple of years ago he said he wanted to be a winger, more recently a midfielder, now he's happy playing full back?claretandy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:20 pmThis isn't true according to David Ornstein.

Didn't see that, (seems very high) he makes things happen in midfield though ala Blake and would be a big upgrade, we'll have to pay the going rate at some point if we want to improve.clarethomer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:22 pmWasnt it quoted that he wanted £100k a week though if he was sold to help him recoup the signing on fee he would get for leaving on a free?

fake newsBenWickes wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:16 pmAMN has made it clear he doesn't want to play RB so as you say, why would he swap clubs to potentially end up in the same situation at Everton?
Seems like a come and get me or play me in midfield plea. If indeed we are interested, he may be, if an agreement could be made; tempted to come to Burnley knowing we've negotiated similarly with Cornet to actually play him where he wants to play.
He states he wants to play somewhere where he feels wanted. So it'll be interesting where he ends up if Arsenal were willing to let him go.

I may of mis read a rumour on here, or maybe mis read what someone was suggesting.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:28 pmDidn't see that, (seems very high) he makes things happen in midfield though ala Blake and would be a big upgrade, we'll have to pay the going rate at some point if we want to improve.
I have never known a player of late demand so much praise from fans yet for the bargain he seems to be, he is not being snapped up.

You are probably right in that his wage demands are excessive seeing as hes a free agent in 5 months time, i can believe that, however there is a deal to be made there, clarethomer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:35 pmI may of mis read a rumour on here, or maybe mis read what someone was suggesting.

Yes we do know, Lyon quoted it.superdimitri wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:08 pmDo we know that though? From what I've read in the press it's 15m. Although perhaps that includes a signing on/agent fee?

Four although I am fairly certain one for definite won't be used. Maybe none of them will but we will see.
I can confirm I've written nothing for Maitland-Niles so if we were to sign him that one would catch me out.

Not sure where Maitland Niles would fit in anyway. Sounds like the lad is desperate to play football, no point him coming to sit on our bench.

Swansea knock back our opening bid of 1.5 million but they expect it to be sorted out by end of the transfer window tommorrow night

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If, as posted, his preference is to play RB, I can’t see that happening at Everton (displacing Coleman) or here, the form Lowts is in (1 goal conceded from right side, which was JBG’s fault for allowing the cross to come in imo). In any event, seems Roberts is considered more cost effective.
I’d play him RW in our team, or he could play RCM if we were going to a 5 man midfield. Certainly likely to get more time in our team than Everton, I’d have thought.

Christie must be one with Roberts being another. Lookman maybe being the one that wont get used. Any other ideas?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Good to hear, I'd settled for 1 more although it wasn't Roberts so if we can get him and another that will be excellent, and will make a good window, an extremely good one.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:04 pmFour although I am fairly certain one for definite won't be used. You have some beef with Nixon, I can tell. You do have a point though, he throws it against the wall.

AMN would be a step up on Lowton.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:21 pmIf, as posted, his preference is to play RB, I can’t see that happening at Everton (displacing Coleman) or here, the form Lowts is in (1 goal conceded from right side, which was JBG’s fault for allowing the cross to come in imo). not really, I read it as we won't be put off by our first bid turned down. I don't know anything about Roberts as a player other than the few games I saw him in the Euro's

I don't have a beef at all and he's very well informed but he's not always right.
I just don't understand why some turn to him for everything. Spijed quotes him almost hourly as if he's gospel.

I see Tony’s point… it’s an arse coverer, if we sign him Nixon told us so. If we don’t it’s because the injury ruled him out not that Nixon got it wrong… he wins both ways, he’s saying nothing.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:37 pmnot really, I read it as we won't be put off by our first bid turned down. Not a Nixon fan but he’s been pretty good this window. Albeit I can appreciate it’s been hard commentating on Burnley’s transfer activity in previous recent windows!

I’m sure there was earlier in the window? Maybe I imagined what I wanted to be true though

I’m not against Lowton although I’ve been disappointed with some of his deliveries, from an attacking perspective. Aside from that, he’s done reasonably well.
I do however think it’s one of the more obvious areas needing improvement, which I think the likes of Maitland-Niles would bring.

I reckon Christie moves tomorrow. Celtic will flog him for a few million instead of having him leave for nothing in 4 months.
I’m not saying that is to us, would be great if it was though.

Like it or lump in Nixon is the most informed journalist with regard to Burnley.
He has proved time and time again he not alone gets information on incoming players, but is usually the first to print it.Cornet the perfect example. Think in was 11 th July when he first printed the rumour we were after him.

I see his point, but I don't agree he's saying nothing. We usually get "Burnley are in for him but miles off the valuation". Either way, good we are trying to bring the age of the squad downelwaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:39 pmI see Tony’s point… it’s an arse coverer, if we sign him Nixon told us so. Watched the Old Firm game yesterday and he looked quite decent on right of cmjedi_master wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 5:42 pmI reckon Christie moves tomorrow. Celtic will flog him for a few million instead of having him leave for nothing in 4 months.

Then moved to wide left in 2nd half and contributed very little

Think we can forget Maitland Niles and Lookman. Personally feel time is very short now in agreeing a deal, getting the player to agree to join us and arrange a medical in just over 24 hours. Unless a deal is in progress I would think no more signings will happen
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’m glad I’m not the only one that had no idea where the link to AMN came from.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Simon Stone (BBC) usually very reliable suggested we were interested in him along with Southampton. Then that was followed up with another Twitter account with a few followers suggesting we were getting quite close - betting markets then put us favourites to be his next club.
It all went a bit quiet after that, though.

I'd already guessed that SD was content with our current roster when we didn't even put in a bid for the Kane lad.

Yep that was the one I saw, I’ve never claimed ‘in the know’ status, but various snippets and changing circumstances could be related to the abrupt end to the rumour early in the window… as well as the possibility it was just wrong.RVclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:04 pmSimon Stone (BBC) usually very reliable suggested we were interested in him along with Southampton.
