Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
A 3 / or 4 / or even more win for Ecuador please.
With all "Fan-Zones" cheering it on would be brilliant.

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Ive been reading up on the Qatar team. They won't be an easy touch. Beat Japan for Asian champions 2019, been Olympic quater-finalists.
They scan 5000 11 year olds with the best given a 6 year academy place.
A £1 Billion pound sports academy and while there is a league all the players train together, do post match rehab together.

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Why do I have vision of them all lined up before each game with all the team captains picking players, like in the school yardsteve1264b wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 8:02 am

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Should be a good game.
Ecuador have got one of my favourite players in the prem in Caicedo. But Qatar have got a pretty decent strike force.
I suspect Qatar will win today but it should be an open entertaining game.

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
I’ve seen Ecuador mentioned as a dark horse to do well in this tournament. Had some very good results in qualifying and used to playing in this climate.
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Caicedo is a top talent. Will surely be bought in the summer for big money.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 8:38 amShould be a good game.

Anything other than a drubbing for Qatar is a farce.

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
I think Qatar may be half decent
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Ecuador should win pretty comfortably
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
If Ecuador have come through South American qualifying then they're no mugs. It's a tough, competitive 18 game slog.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 9:00 amNot sure there is much pedigree for Ecuador to beat them. They have beaten two teams since June 2021z Cape Verde and Nigeria

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
No doubt about that. But there form since then has been pretty poor. They failed to beat 4 teams that they should have demolished in Iran, Venezuela, Saudi, Peru
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
They definitely shouldn't demolish Peru or Iran. Iran are a decent well organised side, got some good players in forward like Taremi and Azmoun.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 9:37 amNo doubt about that. Peru are ranked like 20 spots ahead of Ecuador in the FIFA world rankings. Ecuador are very fortunate Colombia took so long to sack their manager. Also South American qualifying is a bit of a **** show with the altitude changes, I remember Bolivia destroying Argentina in qualifying with Messi needing an oxygen mask. Altitude sickness advantage op.

They played Iraq not Iraq. You should learn read.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 9:47 amThey definitely shouldn't demolish Peru or Iran. Iran are a decent well organised side, got some good players in forward like Taremi and Azmoun.

Can't read too much into friendlies. They qualified ahead of Peru, Paraguay, Chile and Colombia so they must be doing something right. They should have too much for Qatar.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 9:37 amNo doubt about that. But there form since then has been pretty poor. Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Like you I'm clueless regarding Qatar and won't be watching, hope Ecuador rack up a handsome victory though 3-0 would do for starters.
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
I think most people will accept they don't or rarely see these teams play and instead rely on their records, rankings and stats to form their view. I'll be watching it today and as much as my time allows in relation to the other games.
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
I would disagree with people knowing much about qatar? I don’t think they have played a competitive game apart from friendlies.Just think the whole things a bit of a farce to be honest. I certainly don’t envisage a good game like some predict on here they might be right. But Ecuador have drawn 5 nil nils and won 1 nil in last 6.Be dull as dishwater I reckon.

Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Whilst the World Cup should be nowhere near Qatar, don't underestimate their national side, current Asian Champions and will be a tough team to play. In the scheme of things both Qatar and Ecuador are poor sides so either can win today.
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
Qatar are the Asian champions which is up against some decent teams, they conceded 1 goal the whole tournament to Japan in the final.Gp8419 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 11:07 amI would disagree with people knowing much about qatar? They spent millions years ago building a massive training complex just for this world cup, they trained boys there from different countries at 5/6 year old so they could then represent Qatar when they was men, they've all come through the youth system together to the national team.
They'll surprise a few with their quality and a couple will move to Europe.....good enough to get out of the group and go deep though??.....who knows
Re: Today's Footie - C'MON Ecuador
The Bbc are sucking the life out of the tournament. I wonder if commentators will be told to carry on the narrative during the matches.

It might still be on. I went to BBC One in the end, they are not referring to it at all. I might as well be watching the Politics Show.

I won't pretend I'm a massive fan of women's football, but to describe it in the terms you did is disgraceful and misogynistic.

Did anyone see who could possibly be offside there?
